You registered just to say this ^... didn't you TC?
Just for that I'm not going to tell you what I've heard about G'town. But good luck with Crean he'll come and you won't have to pay him 4mil.

In all honesty, Cooley would be my #1 reasonable choice. Would love to have him. I don't see the difference between him and Chris Mack (same age, similar records, etc) and in that one radio interview he gave, he didn't sound not interested.

A leading candidate has reportedly emerged at Gtown www.fanragsports.com/cbb/sources-patrick-ewing-emerges-major-candidate-georgetown/Surrounded by staff who're experienced in recruiting and the nuances of the NCAA, Patrick could be a great hire for Gtown. Assuming he lands there, I hope that it works out for him. As someone else mentioned, it would be fun to see him coaching against Mullin. And how about his son, Patrick Jr, who's an Assistant at SJU?

Anyone know if Ewing slimmed down? I remember him stalking the sidelines last year and he looked to be 500 lbs.

Georgetown to Interview Patrick Ewing for Coaching Vacancy 2017-04-03 05:00:10.29 GMT
By Tim Bontemps April 3 (Washington Post) -- Patrick Ewing was the man who helped John Thompson put Georgetown on the map. Now he could potentially be the man tasked with attempting to return the school's men's basketball program to prominence in the wake of John Thompson III's dismissal. Sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed Sunday evening that Ewing, 54, will interview for the head coaching job Monday in Washington, a step toward potentially installing the Hall of Fame center as the program's next leader. Ewing's interview, which was first reported by The Vertical, will come while Ewing's current employer, the Charlotte Hornets -- for whom he works as associate head coach under Steve Clifford -- is in town for a game Tuesday night at Verizon Center against the Washington Wizards. Sources said Ewing, who has spent the past decade-plus as an assistant with multiple NBA teams, serving under both Jeff and Stan Van Gundy in addition to Clifford, has been doing his due diligence about the possibilities of making the move back to the very different world of high-major college basketball. He has considered what style of play he would employ and studied potential fits that would make sense for a coaching staff that would likely be made up of a seasoned group of assistants capable of navigating the maze of AAU programs and high-end high school programs. Ewing has been analyzing everything required to potentially take on the task of rebuilding the Hoyas' basketball program. That process has also included discussions with the Thompson family. The elder Thompson became a second father to Ewing while recruiting him to Georgetown and coaching him to three Final Fours in their four seasons together, including the 1984 national championship. The younger Thompson, on the other hand, had Ewing's son, Patrick Ewing, Jr., on his coaching staff before being let go by the Hoyas last month after a 13-year run with the school. It's doubtful Ewing would have moved forward with an interview for the job without the blessing of the Thompson clan. Ewing discussed the possibility of taking over the program in a radio interview with Dan Patrick last month before Thompson was fired, and while Ewing said he would listen, he said at the time he didn't want to see the coach go anywhere. "I'm rooting for JTIII," Ewing said. "I think he's done an outstanding job there. He's been there, what, 13 years? He's going through a tough time right now. I'm hoping they can turn it around. My son is on that staff, but if they call, if something happens and they call, I would listen. But my goal is to be a head coach in the NBA. But I would definitely listen to what they have to say. But, I'm for them." Ewing has interviewed for NBA head coaching jobs in the past -- most recently with the Sacramento Kings this past offseason -- and has long stated he wants to be an NBA head coach. If there's one job that could change that position, however, it may be the chance to restore Georgetown to glory.

I think that Ed Cooley and JT (in the background) would be a terrible fit. Two strong willed personalities, would be a major clash.

Take the jt3 connection out...how is this a worse hiring than Mullin?

It is NOT.
If you measure year one when Mullin ditched some bad actors to year two, Mullin doing just fine. I suspect Year 3 will even be better.
Ewing may do the same commendable job. He obviously has the name and knows the friggin game alright.
He retired in 2002 from the nba...needs a young hungry staff to recruit and he should be fine.
As for me, I wish mediocrity to any coach not named Cooley.
