Despite how awful last night's second half was, I think we are still in very good shape to get a bid. We may end up in Dayton for a first four game, but it would take a lot of crazy results for us to fall out completely. First and foremost, we really need Dayton and VCU to march through the A-10 tourney, and Cincinnati and SMU to do the same in the AAC. The easiest way for us to slide down the ranks is for at large spots to be opened up due to bid stealers. Below is a list of key games today and I have them ranked in order of importance:
Kansas St- West Virginia: We should still be ahead of Kansas St, but a win probably clinches their bid and puts them very close to us
Vanderbilt- Florida: A loss here would make Vandy 18-15 and probably keep them out altogether, or at the very least stay below us
Cal- Oregon: Cal's resume is sorely lacking in the good wins department. I think they need this just to get in, much less pass us
URI- St. Bonaventure: A win here won't move the needle much for them, but a loss ends their hopes. A win also gives them a (probable) chance at Dayton
Xavier- Creighton: I think Xavier punched their ticket last night, but they might be just below us on the S-Curve. A win here probably means they pass us for sure
These next few games aren't quite as important, but would be nice to keep these teams from moving up
TCU- Iowa St: I still think TCU needs to win the conference tourney, but another good win makes them more viable
Houston- UConn: I think Houston will need to win this and then beat Cincinnati tomorrow at the least get in
Georgia- Kentucky: I don't think just getting this win alone is enough, but it's a good start
Indiana- Wisconsin- Same as Georgia
For everyone freaking out, I think our 6 top 50 wins really help us stand out from the other bubble teams. Having road wins at Creighton and Marquette are also very valuable. We should know a lot more about our chances after today, let's hope for some good results much like we got in the ACC and Big Ten

Lunardi has us ahead of Marquette and Xavier. MQ you could argue, Xavier I don't think so. Not after their 2 BET wins. Lunardi might not be updating it fully yet.

please pin this thread for future reference when assuming JL is anti pc or pro espn.
Keep in mind that he could have X seeded below PC b/c they've been awful but in the tourney over PC b/c their resume is better.

26 Conference Tournament games to be played today, with most involving single-bid Conferences. I would guess that at this point, the field of At-Large Bids (not necessarily the seeds themselves) is starting to gel. The fact that some of the bracketologists still have us in (and as "high" as a 10 seed) is starting to give me some measure of comfort.
Still - I'll believe that we're in, when I hear our Program announced tomorrow.

Agree.
Yes we are in better shape then in the past including our BET Championship year presently being listed as "in" by most yet that nagging concern remains.
Will the Big East actually get 7 bids, 70% of our nascient conference? Considering the resistance to the "new" Big East including the dismissive designation as the "catholic" conference, we need to be wary.
Consider our lack of attentive reporting by the likes of pro ACC ESPN, and our remote spot as a FoxSports league, the lack of football is an impediment - all this despite Nova's Championship, so 7 bids seems unlikely.
So if only 6, who is out.
The stink bomb we laid vs Creighton does not help regardless of those dismissing it as unimportant .
It certaInly did not help - so we await the rollout, once again with that nagging sense of anxiety looming.

If it's only 6 I think PC is out. Have to hope the Bracketogists are correct.

Scoreboard watching sucks - and here we go once again - waiting.
The image of the 96 team watching and waiting on national tv with God Shamgodd sitting front an center has never left my minds eye - we were OUT ...(of course next season in with run to Elite 8)
So despite all the chest thumping by mr dex, this Friar needs to sweat it out, waiting and hoping.
If OUT, the hue and cry will be legendary and still it is a possibility - again I say, scoreboard watching and being dependent on others SUCKS.

I'm with draif on this one. I'll only believe we are in when I see it announcement. But I hope my pessimism is misplaced.
Edit: Actually, I see it as: Top 64...25% Dayton...50% Out......25%
