So beating Creighton "should" be enough...see, the freaking bar is constantly moved...it used to be finish strong, or .500 in conference play, or RPI, or strength of schedule...
I'm sorry, but the Friars have beaten the likes of Marquette (twice), Butler, Creighton, and Xavier and, yet, only Xavier seems worse off than the Friars...Xavier, presuming they win tomorrow night, will have its last three conference wins ALL AGAINST DEPAUL...I would love to see the Big East get 7 teams in but I'm starting to worry that Xavier could steal PC's spot if they beat Butler and the Friars lose to Creighton...
Well, Thursday night is going to lead to a rough Friday morning...I'll either lose sleep over the prospects of seeding/placement on Selection Sunday or I'll lose sleep over an incoming screw job by the committee.

The committee is supposed to weigh Xavier as they are...without Sumner and they lose to everyone not named Depaul without Edwin.
We were told by bracket gurus here that our wins over X and Creighton would be judged in part on their injuries.
I opt out of articles that equivocate on our chances and stop reading posts that hedge...said posters claim we deserve the invite but our history dictates disappointment.
So to make it unanimous, I now predict we will not make the ncaa for the 4th straight year.
I would herewith resign from this pathetic board if not for my sworn determination to haunt #neverthumper until the day he burns his zebra shirt in disgust for all the lousy calls those rotten political refs he supposedly taught actually make.

It's one jackass at Yahoo.......And this whole weighting for injuries and all that is such millennial bullshit. You can play that game all day. We never get any benefit of any doubt, only "well PC beat them without so and so", and forget all the injuries we've had over the years.....Injuries are part of the game, you play with who you have and that's that...Give me a break.
All that said I can already smell the screwjob coming. Beat Creighton its a stone cold lock. Lose and I have a feeling we're all going to be disappointed, despite the fact that our resume of top 50 wins is unmatched against our comp on the bubble. Xavier should be out, unless they win 2 games, beating DePaul again, who is the only team they've beaten in over a month should not be enough.
I think the BE will end up with 6 teams and 1 team will be out among :PC, Marq, SHU, X. Which one will it be?

Well...20, 21 and 22 wins weren't enough for the '14 team led by Cotton. That team had to win the BET to get an 11 seed. Who the hell knows.
From Wikipedia: The 2013–14 Providence Friars men's basketball team represented Providence College during the 2013–14 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Friars, led by third-year head coach Ed Cooley, played their home games at the Dunkin' Donuts Center, and were in their first season as members of the reorganized Big East Conference. They finished the season 23–12, 10–8 in Big East play to finish in a three way tie for third place. They were champions of the Big East Tournament to earn the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament where they lost in the second round to North Carolina.

Apples to oranges...the 13-14 had 2 top 50 wins (Creighton Twice) Edited: Xavier was 47th so they had 3. 3 Top 50 wins vs 6 this year.

I don't know if true, but someone on the other hood claimed we had 1 top 50 win, at home vs Creighton that year. This year we have 6 possibly 8 depending how MQ finishes. edit JMA beat me to it, and we had 1 top 50 win. The 2nd came when we forced our way in with the BET win over CU. Had we lost that game we had 1 top 50 win, and now that makes more sense to me for the would be snub, because that is pretty lame resume, 21 or 22 wins or not. I think part of it was the NBE hadn't yet established itself with strong RPI starting points like in the years since, so our opportunities for top 50 wins were less. And what amkes that squad my favorite thus far in the Cooley era was that the iron 6 did it alone, led by Cotton.

Just checked the archives on the ncaa site ( I need to get a life) to do a comparison of TODAY vs Selection Sunday 2014 (includes the BET Win against Creighton)
2014 2017 RPI(40) RPI (52) SOS (63) SOS (47) Non-conference SOS (228) Non-Conference SOS (177) Record vs Top 50 (3-6) Record vs Top 50 (6-7) Record vs Top 100 (8-10) Record vs Top 100 (10-8)
Oh, and the bubble was much stronger in '14

You do have to remove the CU win in the BET though, for sake of discussion. If the 14 team was at Large then that means they would have lost the BET championship vs CU, so they had 2 top 50 wins I guess (both home reg season vs CU and X). if the committee was evaluating us post a loss to CU in the final, our top 50 was 2-7, and top 100 was 7-11.
