The "New Big East" was the best thing to ever happen to us. Actually think Ed Cooley was the best thing to happen to us. I think Ed would have had us in the mix for tourney bids in the old BE. The last 2 seasons he certainly would have. Many of the teams from the old BE haven't exactly been setting the world on fire lately. Also, if what Walk has said is true, Cooley would be recruiting at an even higher level in the old BE. It was the main reason I was disappointed by the split, I thought we were just about to compete again. That said, the fact that we had a fair amount of success vs. UConn but barely any vs. Syracuse is interesting, which was my original point. Maybe it's the zone? i think this is a great conversation piece. i think ed is the only guy for us, but man i think he is lucky we landed where we did when we did. i don't necessarily agree we would have the same level of competitiveness in the old BE

But I also think Ed would have landed more big fish. Villanova is the only really big sell as an opponent now. As much as we love what Xavier, Creighton and Butler have done, it's not the same as selling Syracuse, Louisville, Notre Dame and UConn.

I was there as well. I recall us being down double digits at the 2 minute mark and fouling away. Pretty sure it was Murdock that sealed it. Thanks for the clarification 5thirty. Now help me out on my other fact... was this the same night that the Syracuse area got hit with lake effect snow? I recall coming out of Coleman's Pub one night following a game (pretty sure it was this one), to about 10" of snow on the ground...and it just continued to pile up. Indeed it was. At around midnight a crew of us brilliantly decided to trek back to Providence. My car couldn't handle the snow and we ended up sleeping in a bad motel in Albany.
