Hey pcfriarsfan94 I guess you could say I am overly critical of Big Ed if you only read posts wherein I have criticized him. As an example when I pointed out that I thought he was distracted for awhile which contributed to some blindsided defections and a situation like Alex Owens et al.
Of course they are counter-balanced and then some by a thousand posts praising the guy... ie nobody is better at getting off the canvas or just yesterday when I said he was back to being the Genghis Kahn of a couple of years ago on the recruiting trail or recently praising him for shaking up the Staff..
Suffice to say I totally reject your characterization and hope you will re-visit my posts because I like to think I am objective. Of course, there are those who think that I am a Homer which I also reject. Ed Cooley rescued this Program and his first 5 years have been magical. He is a god in FriarTown but not infallible.

I have to say Dex, your "shots" at Cooley have been edifying for me. Honestly, I am in the Ed "can do no wrong" camp and your nudging about the "distraction", visa vie Chukwu, last minute poor recruits and such have opened my eyes. Your view of an apparent change in Ed's "focus" this spring has made me really think. Hats off to you for that. It instills great hope to know you see it a) as having been an issue and b) an issue Ed has determined he must fix. Now, I guess you could say that you've spun a conclusion out of a fictional premise but I can't say I see that here so, again, I commend you.

I've got no problem with any of the departures...just as long as we remember it's a two way street. Cooleys received a ton of praise for eyeing talent and player development. That takes a hit here as well. Doesn't mean he hasn't done a great job and saved ourrogram.

That takes a hit here as well. Doesn't mean he hasn't done a great job and saved ourrogram. It should be a two way street. I was speaking yesterday at a family gathering to a person who works for a national retail chain. They have recently completed most of their awarding of contracts to graduating students ( 6 yr grads not 4) for positions with their company. She was saying the next phase is to now realign the existing regional footprint of managers and several of last year's graduating students will find their roles either reduced or eliminated. In addition several in her territory have also indicated that they are looking to move on rather than stay with the company after one year. I think many of us in the 60's/70's graduating classes worked for the same company for many years. I joke with one of my own that she had had more jobs in her 15 year career than I did in my whole life. The workplace of today seems a lot like the college basketball world.

And likely for similar reasons. I've been out of PC for 21 years and have been through dozens of rounds of layoffs (fell victim once but have also had managers and many close colleagues axed as well). Similar to players today watching teammates get brizzed and seeing their coaches jump ship for a better opportunity. Loyalty goes out the window and you take care of yourself (I believe that might be different if working for a smaller firm).

Great bring up info - and all that was ONE year ago?
Whoa...
Don't see all these recent departures as signs of some sort of vicious brizzing - just don't see that...it is a natural progression of a program in development. Anyone coming in here has to know that.
Change is a constant dynamic everywhere these days including college hoops with all the transfers; 5th year availables and coaching changes being the new norm. For us we MUST be nimble and adaptable to this landscape of we have any chance to compete.

So kids that cant play -natural progression. Kids that can - screwed us over. You FINALLY understand! If they do the job or have lots of potential and then they leave us high and dry, they are pond-scum (atta boy dex). If they can be replaced by someone better, have a good life! Onward and upward! In Ed we trust! PIZZA, SODA, GRINDERS!!!
