Then why did he go into the student section to ask for crowd support? Clearly he has to ignore all "message board Woodens".
He knows his players better than anyone, their strengths, the parts of their game that needs improvement. He knows Xs and Os. It's his system. His players, his coaches. He clearly substituted down the stretch to put those on the floor he thought best able to get the win. PC individually and as a team despite woeful shooting, (does X get any credit for that?) Can't recall exactly, but Lavin commented that PC ranks in the 200s among teams for percentage shooting, ranks in 300s among teams for percentage of made 3's. ugh. He also commented that the short turnaround between games and OT games at Nova and a home game at VS X showed in last night's shooting woes.
The team was clearly running on adrenaline after being down 7 - 0 to then go on a run and capture the lead for a while. Then as Walk, who can give his message board opinion as he sees fit, pointed out Bentil/ Dunn were gassed 6 or 7 minutes into the game.
Reynolds, Farr, Bluitt (sp?) - wow. Myles Davis - wow.
Does Walk not have a point that after Lindsey hit a few 3's to get Friars into a winning position, with Farr fouling out, it might be appropriate to drive to score, go to free throw line, stop the clock, chance for a traditional three point play, set up the defense after the make, rebound a miss, and start the offensive set over again, rather than 'settle" for outside shots on tired legs?
EC knows more about basketball than all the message boards put together but I have no problem with Walk in the heat of play posting "drive to the basket" and the end of a winnable game despite the first 38 minutes of misses and for posting that EC might have tried the strategy of having the guys drive rather than shoot from the outside.
EC has 1000 scenarios going through his head in those 40 minutes of play. What's a few more to consider from invested 'message board Wooden's'? EC more than likely has thought of them before it ever dawned on any of us.

Why did he go in crowd for support?
Must have been to ask Walk and Rock for advice on beating a 1-3-1

draif: "The game was there for the taking with "normal" below average shooting."
That description is so accurate and damn near waxes poetic. BRAVO
Amazing that we were still in it as a result of our defense.
Oh and yes draif that airball display has to be a record for The Dunk.
The poor kid Council had one from each side of the court...was hoping he got to squeeze one off from the top of key for the trifecta
Zeke not getting to squeeze one 3-ball off is confounding

Acknowledging his shooting struggles since his return albeit in limited minutes, unless the kid forgot how to shoot he is our most legit 3 point threat and he's a heady player as well. I hope he starts seeing more minutes.

The Ed Cooley press conference answers just about everything anyone may choose to post or comment upon.
Impressive man and coach.
