Rasheed Jordan coming back to the Red Storm. Gets better every day in Queens....NYC has a team again and a formidable foe for our Friars. If these guys can coach and put a winning product on the floor---it will be great for the League.Fox will love it.MSG and the BET will as well.NYC might be able to replace the CUSE as "its team" ;)It will make ot tougher for the other teams in the League.Hopefully---that will be a good thing as it may ultimately make it easier for them to recruit as well as the League's visibilty and perception jumps up.

Thought same - always liked Purvis... Son is rated 3 stars but many see him as an under-the-radar recruit with serious ability - knock is his D, (of course Hi Dad),and he is considered light at a mere 178 lbs. He is a 2015 and would be a good pick up for Mullin and SJU although they are late to the game as Maryland, Rutgers, California, Minnesota, South Carolina, Temple and Wake Forest have all extended offers to the talented wing. Zach Braziller @nypost_Brazille Malik Ellison has committed to #sjubb as expected. That's six very solid recruits in 30 days for Chris Mullin. Highly impressive.

Good times keep rolling for Chris Mullin, St. John’sBy Zach Braziller NY POST May 2, 2015 | 1:57am Maybe all the St. John’s alumni and fans who packed themselves into Carnesecca Arena 30 days ago knew something everyone else didn’t. Chris Mullin’s introductory press conference was one big party, a conquering hero returning home. But the elephant in the room was the roster — uncertainty about the few quality current players who remained from the Steve Lavin era and about who Mullin could surround them with, if they decided to stay, in such a short period of time. Roughly a month later, Mullin and assistants Matt Abdelmassih and Barry “Slice” Rohrssen have worked recruiting magic, landing six quality prospects, keeping key holdovers Rysheed Jordan and Chris Obekpa in the fold and laying the groundwork for future recruiting classes.Suddenly, next season doesn’t look so murky. Friday was another big day for Mullin and company, with New Jersey guard Malik Ellison — the son of former NBA No. 1 pick Pervis Ellison — picking the Red Storm over Rutgers, Minnesota and South Carolina. He was the second key commitment of the week for St. John’s, joining Pittsburgh transfer Durand Johnson, a talented 6-foot-6 scoring wing. They join junior college transfer Darien Williams, Spanish big man Yankuba Sima, Missouri State graduate transfer Ron M’Vouika and Tennessee transfer Tariq Owens, a 6-foot-10 forward who has to sit out next season.“They were able to retain the right guys on the roster,” one college coach said, speaking on condition of anonymity. “They inherited a couple really talented kids and they went out and got a couple guys to help them right away and build for the future. “They had a really good month.” The college coach, who is familiar with several of the new players, said Johnson could make the most immediate impact because of his versatility and shot-making ability. He was impressed by the quality of all the prospects, though, and how quickly it has come together. There were no reaches and there is roster balance. The two graduate transfers will free up scholarships a year from now, and the two high school players and Williams and Owens each has three years left. “They’re not taking any flyers on guys,” the coach said. Next season’s roster now has depth, balance, versatility and size — qualities that were severely lacking last season. Each player St. John’s has secured has raved about the hard work of the staff and the opportunity to play under a Hall of Famer such as Mullin. Playing time, of course, was also a factor.St. John’s did miss on its two biggest targets, McDonald’s All-American Cheick Diallo and four-star guard Brandon Sampson. But there were backup plans and a thought-out strategy to make sure the roster wouldn’t be so barren. Mullin, however, isn’t celebrating just yet. At a lunch with reporters this week, he stopped short of any bold declarations. “Until those guys are in uniform and I’m out there and they’re on the court, that’s when I’ll feel good or bad,” he said. It certainly beats the alternative. Looking back, the fans who treated Mullin’s introduction like a coronation knew what they were doing.

Hole he was in academically was way too deep - also thinking Mullins probably knows this and will move past and forward w/o this baggage.
