May 5, 2012 TAMPA, FLORIDA - Providence College sophomore Emily (Sisson (Chesterfield, Mo.) has won the 5000-meters at the BIG EAST Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Her time, a phenomenal 15:45.83, sets a new BIG EAST Championship record by three-hundredths of a second. The old mark of 15:45.86, set by Georgetown's Suzanne Girard, had stood since 1984.It is Sisson's first BIG EAST title and second Friar win of the championship weekend. Junior Shelby Greany (Suffern, N.Y.) was victorious in Friday night's 3000-meter steeplechase. Sisson dominated Saturday's race, outrunning the next closest competitor by 27.54 seconds.
