Kmac:
Why a postseason tourney?
We know it’s a pipe dream in the tradition-rich Ivy League, but if any series of athletic events could shake the schools’ presidents to consider a postseason basketball tournament it was the fantastic final weekend of Ivy play. First Yale goes into Cambridge and beats Harvard, seemingly ending the Crimson’s reign as champions. But in a last-second thriller at Dartmouth, Yale makes three bad plays in 10 seconds and loses to the Big Green at the buzzer. Now the Ivy will hold a one-game playoff between Harvard and Yale next Saturday at the Palestra to decide who gets the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Get ready for ESPN, Fox and all the national newspapers to cover the game and give Ivy basketball a spotlight it rarely enjoys. Guess what, hoop heads? If you hold a conference tourney at the Palestra, you’d get the same juice each and every March

Watching the ACC tourney I just realized how stacked this is for the 4 North Carolina programs. The tourney is in their backyard each and every year. Huge advantage for them over everyone else. Then again they will be playing in NY soon for at least some years so that will make it a bit more fair. But as is its setup for Duke and UNC every year.

That's always been the case, and it typically sets one of the 4 up nicely, to play the first couple rounds of the NCAAs in the Carolina's again.
As I stated a couple years back, there's no way that goes over well with Dex's friend - Jim Boeheim, as Jimbo has made a habit of playing +60% of his games in the Dome or in State, before a sea of orange clad fans.

Watching Yale vs Harvard 1 game playoff at The Palestra. It's on nesn+ seems like a good crowd, lots of energy and close game. Harvard leads 38-32 with 12 to play.
Yale hasn't danced since 1962 so I'm rooting for Yale.

Harvard hits the winner with 7 seconds and Yale's rebuttal rims out. Oh well.

Looks like URI is getting ready to choke away a big chance to make it to the tourney.

Hooley who hit the winning shot is from Australia. He had to go home about a month ago as his mom was dying of cancer. He returned in about two weeks. His mom must have guided the rebound to him and he hit the shot after a difficult shooting game. After the game he knelt down with his head on the scorers table. The Albany community raised more than 10,000 dollars for cancer research in Australia.

Notre Dame playing effectively a road game here in the ACC title against the Tarheels. Grant just picked up his 3rd foul with 4 min to go in half. Brey is irate.

It ticks me off how Duke and Carolina get to play the ACC Tourney in Carolina almost every year and that there is one NCAA location in Carolina every year!!Huge advantage for them. Really want the Irish to win tonight, with all of that Blue in the stands!! By the way,ND never played in the BET title game.Think about that.
