Another year....just more of the same. I'm not even surprised anymore. If you were surprised you'd qualify as naive. I think our prediction threads should be about rosters not game results. It's so frustrating.

It's so frustrating. I guess there is still this part of me that believes we can get out of this continual Groundhog day nightmare and that part of me is consistently disappointed.

Sorry about what walk? What the he!! is the matter with you? I was just edifying you as to why they said they tried that play. Blaney clearly stated that the play was not executed.I take no position as to whether that was correct or not....with CD out I would have guessed Henton throwing it in bec I think he has experience in doing that from time to time especially last year. What a beauty.
If they didn't try the extra pass you would be calling cooley out on not doing it. Mental mistakes lost that game...get over yourself.

I am not a fan of throwing that pass behind the baseline....never have been,..takes additional time and requires executing an additional step when all you need to do us get the ball in bounds....

Cotton is your best free throw shooter, he can't be the man in-bounding the ball, Otto. The inbound play itself seemed a bit much but I trust that it was seen as necessary in practice. Should have worked. It didn't. Thanks Dex. We can argue Cooley the GM another day but the roster left to him is a real source of irritation right now. Spending nearly $200 a game in tickets, traveling to road games, donating some bucks etc and watching a team that can only field half a roster is amazingly frustrating. I can take, to some degree, talent misevealuations, slow development of players and even coaching boo boos but as a fan to be 100% all-in and find your team staffed with 6/7 players instead of 10/12 for yet another season makes it very hard to stay enthused. If that makes me a bad fan, so be it. Rock. I feel your pain and share your sentiments.Waiting until next year is getting old. This was the year that we fans and Ed Cooley etal were viewing as the takeoff one.Experience with Cotton,Batts (the one we saw last year),Henton.Talented youngsters like Dunn and Austin, with 2 highly thought of ACC transfers ,not to mention at some point a thought that Ricardo might be here, made thinking big this year reality. Unfortunately, the dreams went up in a puff of smoke.I really feel for Cotton. Hopefully ,things will improve. But,after losing vs. SHU ,the odds of even an NIT year are lessening.

Unfortunately , right now coach has very limited options. He has ten guys who can play. Not much choice whom he puts out there. At the end neither of our bigs were available.

71 - obviously I agree about making the nit....however we probably win the game if we can just throw the ball in bounds and you'd be singing the praises of the toughness of this team and walk not having a clue....the deficiencies are there regardless and have been all year....bottom line...batts doesn't return to 2012-13 form and this is the 9th place team in the BE.

I believe I saw Bancroft inbounding the ball around mid-court from the bench side vs. Xavier in the waning minutes when the score was close enough to turn the wrong way. I shuttered, but it all went well. I'd call this evidence of Cooley's confidence in Bancroft, even after the nightmarish SHU ending.

Bancroft doesn't get to shoot many FT's, but he has been the worst FT shooter on the team for 2 straight years. So it may be safer having him inbound than the guy the other team fouls before they get to inbound it to Cotton.

Definitely something team needs to need to work on here - very, very shaky so far...and merits the work too because our margin between winning and losing is truly razor thin - could be something that if not worked on now might become a nightmare down the line...can you imagine thre season coming down to an in-bound play?
Can you? I can...and we need to be ready.

A little off topic but worth mentioning as it is along the same lines. . On ed's radio show last Thursday he mentioned one stat they keep was conversions after time outs. Said they were converting points 75% on that possession off a time out or play stoppage. Percentage was even higher as this didnt include when they got the shot intended but missed.
They scored on inbounding plays a number oftimes inbounding under the X basket in the second half sat.

Definitely an area where focus is needed.
No reason why the ball should be passed in to Josh Fortune (or any player) in the corner, as it drew an immediate, two-man trap (four man, if you count the baseline and sideline as defenders)...which led to an errant pass to Tyler Harris...and turnover to Xavier on Saturday
