why in the world was Bancroft inbounding the ball?
another loss that would have been a win with Austin

why in the world was Bancroft inbounding the ball? First I saw Fortune with the ball and I got nervous. Then he gives it up to Bancroft. Ugh. I'd almost rather have Cotton inbound even though he's our best free throw shooter. At least we would get the free throw attempts from someone.

You could see Cooley scream JOSH!!!!!!!
He probably gave up on the play too quickly.

Cooley and this team have no real chance. We can sit and coach and re-coach all we want but playing with basically 6 1/2 players, and only one BE-level guard - will give any program exactly what we are seeing now. The annual roster attrition makes me want to puke. It's the reason we're in trouble, not Cooley's decision making, rotation, in-game adjustments or any other such thing. Sure, he could do better with some things but he's substantially handicapped by having to coach a major college basketball program - once again - with half a roster. It's crazy. Totally pathetic.

Isn't part of it on him rock...while no control of Dunn/Austin//bullock the fact remains that we'd still only have 3 guards with everyone...possibly 4 if you call Austin a 2... Do we need a jr redshirt right now...or could he have better used the sidiki scholly for a guard...
I'll give him credit - somehow we were in this game today and our roster doesn't match up...gonna be a problem for the next 3 months...
Sucks that cottons gonna get squeezed on some postseason stuff b/c our games will be meaningless....this isn't keno ball where the best player on a loser team is putting up numbers...

The folks I watched the game with thought Cooley time and again made correct game decisions while Willard actually let us back in by taking the air out of the ball with 10 minutes left in regulation. Blaney said that inbounds play was practiced repeatedly yesterday. CD was fouled out or it would have been him I suspect.
So many mental mistakes and so few guys providing any offense.
Amazing that one of Willard's assistants did not ask the trainer to give him a competency test during one of the time-outs. Speaking of coaches I would not want, what's up with Lavin? Another loaded roster and the same result today at Xavier.

Hindsight is 20-20 but you should not try a "tricky" inbounds play with no time outs and only 5 seconds to get the ball in, leaves no room for error, let your best most trustworthy player, Cotton take the ball out in that situation. Just say'n.

Cotton is your best free throw shooter, he can't be the man in-bounding the ball, Otto. The inbound play itself seemed a bit much but I trust that it was seen as necessary in practice. Should have worked. It didn't.
Thanks Dex. We can argue Cooley the GM another day but the roster left to him is a real source of irritation right now. Spending nearly $200 a game in tickets, traveling to road games, donating some bucks etc and watching a team that can only field half a roster is amazingly frustrating. I can take, to some degree, talent misevealuations, slow development of players and even coaching boo boos but as a fan to be 100% all-in and find your team staffed with 6/7 players instead of 10/12 for yet another season makes it very hard to stay enthused. If that makes me a bad fan, so be it.
