You can take this one to the bank.
The No. 1 Wing on the radar screen for the Friars is 6'-7" Tyrone Hanson who is currently at Bridgeton Academy in Maine firming up his academics. The "future" Friar, once pledged to Monmouth, has now set his sights on a Power Conference and there is none better than the Big East.
You may recall that Tyrone played his HS ball at St. Mary's on L.I. along with TarHeels star Danny Green. I'm pretty sure you will be able to see Tyrone showcase his game in early February at the big annual Prep Invitational at URI. Very Happy

I am not aware of this prospect. Can you provide some more info, such as some numbers, etc?
Seems as if he may be yet another under-the-radar type?
Monmouth? Were. (or are), there any others invovled with him?
Thanks in advance.

This is what NYHoops has to say about Hanson:
"Hanson's 3 point shooting is what sets him apart from many players. Hanson is a 6' 6" forward who can hit the three...he specializes in them and if you get caught up in his shooting you might just forget that the player from Elmont also has ball handling skills, as well."
I've seen him listed at anywhere from 6' 6" to 6' 8"...so maybe 6' 7" is more like it?
I noticed that we're also one of the finalists for Lamont Ulmer, who I know that Jerry likes a lot...but, never having seen him play, I'm a bit put off by a Wing player who needs to improve BOTH his outside shooting and ball handling...so I hope you're right about our chances for Hanson.

We have 3 right? So we could take Hall, Ulmer and this kid and with the three guards this would be a well rounded class.
Any guesses on what Hill might do?

No guesses but if he is content to be a role player or "roll" player as some on the other board are wont to say...I'd like to see him back. If he can give us a few minutes here and there at the 4 and 5, he could be a valuable member of the team.

Good job fellas, I think Fanatic found the Sorcerer's Stone; yes Tyrone can hit the THREE BALL. He's also playing for as good a prep coach as there is at Bridgeton under Lesure. The Friar Staff respects the heck out of the Bridgeton coach who won the championship in his division last year. His offense is a well-oiled machine man.
J, the problem with Ulmer is that we have Geoff. If Lamont could hit from the arc, he'd be going to UNC or Duke, he's that intense a player. I don't know how you pass him up? Right now he's making all those "superstars" look good at ND Prep. Saiquon, btw, is also very intense and a good defender but he's Chuck Burch offensively.
Hanson has played for the NY Panthers under Gary Charles and the NY Jacguars under Kevin Hamilton. Other schools showing interest have been St Johns, South Fla, Geo Mason, Washington, Drexel, URi and Monmouth.
We shall see.

Good stuff guys.
If Hanson can shoot the rock at his size---I would take him for the "shooting 3" I believe PC needs.
He and Hall would be a very good Spring haul for the Friars.
