The 2005-06 season sets up as a major challenge for despite the Friars 3-0 start against lesser opponents, reality begins tonight with a road game in Wichita, KS against the Wichita State Shockers.
So far, Randall Hanke, the 6'10" Sophomore center for PC amazes with 27-30 FG .900 % and 8 RPG, and Freshman Geoff McDermott has proven his overall athletic skills by throwing his impressive football body all around, displaying fabulous interior passing skills while also averaging 8.3 RPG.
There are several other signs of hope on this very undermanned team of 9 scholarship players; 4 being freshman. It will be a year of seasoning no doubt and as long as the Friars remain relatively injury free it will also be a season with few expectations of success in the W column.
Should these young men approach .500 they will need to pull off some unexpected W's along the way. So far there are signs of hope that this can and just may happen.
Time to be a real fan Friars so sit back, relax and be patient - there is much to enjoy here even if it doesn't add up to a winning record.

Last night we lost to Wichita State on the road. This is the type of game we need to expect from these kids as they learn and come together as a team. Sounds trite but it WAS a good loss because we never quit and left it all on the floor.
Keep up this type of effort and good things will happen.
Now work on those free throws.
