Our young coach, who lost his most highly touted player to injury, has wins against:
Rick Pitino Ed Cooley Greg McDermott Shaka Smart Sean Miller Thad Matta Shaheen Holloway Tony Stubblefield Greg Gard (Wisconsin) Mike White (Georgia)
Still has a shot to beat Dan Hurley and Kyle Neptune.
All in his first year at Providence. Those in the media who were pre-season doubters have been proven wrong.

First, I must fess up that when Kim English's name was dropped in the days when Ed screwed us over, my first response here was "who?" I was hoping for some established name or someone who had won something........................It is looking like I was totally wrong. (He will still have to show he can win with his own players entirely, once Ed's players graduate - but I've seen nothing so far to show he won't or that he doesn't have an eye for talent with impact players like Oduro or Ticket and with incoming recruits).
So if we make the tourney and he lands another big recruit for 24/25, its a home run. Further, he has the whole package as someone you want to be the face of your program.
Not to be chicken little but I already hear some mild chatter among Friar fans both in person and on the various social media groups of "KE won't be here long - he will bolt for Mizzou or somewhere "better" within 4-5 years" insinuating that we are still very much a stepping stone. This is obviously due to our historical precedent, plus the most recent move of "Providence's own" Ed Cooley to Georgetown.
I really hope we can lock this guy up for awhile, and I do think Nap will do his very best. We have a wildly passionate fanbase, a top 10 national home court based on atmosphere, home court advantage and attendance (top 25 in attendance - hearing we will break program record this year currently averaging 11,200 pg inclusive of OOC) , state of the art facilities on campus, and a healthy basketball budget. I'd like to think we left room for raises based on attainment goals and for extensions when warranted. Ed Cooley was a top 25 paid coach nationally around 4M per year. I assume KE got less than Ed was getting when he left.
Looks like KE signed a 6 yr contract for undisclosed amount. Any buyout would be nothing for a bigger program, but I do have a lot more faith in Nap than I did originally when he took over and Ed left suddenly.

BTW, that loud scream you are about to hear is me going out back to deservedly fall on my sword.

Driscoll probably knew that with his retirement coming up, the next AD wasn't going to survive Ed. So they had their eye on people and talked to trusted guys about coaching prospects. The new AD would be needing one, probably soon.
I wasn't that impressed with Kim's A-10 rec. relative to their talent. But there were other things about him that impressed. It's good that he is proving himself in one of the toughest personnel situations they have ever had. I have no doubt he will be offered by someplace immediately. Having a Providence team in the NCAA would be huge. English may stay - for a few years: all I'd expect.

I don’t think it’s a huge deal if Kim has success and then leaves in a few years. We would have conquered the media narrative from this offseason that only Cooley can have success at Prov and all of our recent success is solely attributed to him

Last year was 20-13. 1st time to 20 wins since 2016-17. 2nd time since 2012-13. Fernandez didn't crack the rotation until Jan. Ticket missed the whole month of January. George Mason finished the season 8-3. George Mason is currently 18-8 without Oduro, Ticket, and Dick Barron. George Mason is arguably a Top 25 team this year if KE stayed there.
