Noticed tonight when they showed the friars profile for the tournament, they had Q3 loss and I couldn’t think who it was. Turns out it’s the loss at home to Seton Hall(15-9,8-5)who has fallen to 76 in NET rankings. Villanova(13-11,6-7) who is 2 games behind SH in the BE standings is at 41 in the NET rankings. Lol. They are back to 75

Does anyone know if the committee factors in an at large candidates OWN NET, merely the NET of their opponents (quad wins) or is it both?

They claim that your own NET doesn’t matter, only your opponents NET for quadrant sorting, but I wouldn’t test that The committee claims that like 30 different things are considered I remember Chris Mullin SJ team made it with a NET in the 70s, but it’s not common

The NET determining formula being a secret is ridiculous.
Nova 39 at 13-11 (6-7), SJ 48 @ 14-11 (6-8), Butler 50 @ 15-9 (7-7), X 51 @ 13-11 (7-6), PC 58 @ 16-9 (7-7), Seton Hall 75 @15-9 (8-5)
There is not enough difference in out of conference schedules and results to account for this. Point differential, efficiency, etc...show me please NCAA.

Do they start out preseason ranked in some way based on last year's finish or some projection and that builds in some inherent advantage for those ranked higher to begin with before a game has even been played?

they do but all of that has been flushed out by now. Providence is getting killed by its nonconf sos and not having any road wins. that said, it doesn't matter this year. get to 11 before the BET

As we've discussed you cannot get any big names to come here OOC. We have few options.
1. Get into good OOC tourney....(we already do this)
2. hope Val does SOMETHING to replace gavvitt games that end soon (B10- BE challenge) -this was Wisconsin this yr . If not replaced its a massive loss
3. Hope Val extends BE-B12 challenge - @oklahoma this yr. Same deal as above -loss if not extended
4. Then what? No big names want to come here. Do a neutral or home and home deal with a high major but who?
5. How did UCONN get into that late OOC MSG event ? They got couple more big names there plus it's close to home. Advantage of being a multi time NC?

Instead of playing NEC, Patriot and bottom of the barrel Ivy teams, play better A-10, Coastal Athletic, Missouri Valley, anyone not named Brown, Columbia or Dartmouth from the Ivy, etc.

Perhaps so.

Can't be worse than playing all these teams with NET rankings in the 300's.

27 brackets overall out of 106. We really do have an uphill battle to climb. Every win vaults us up, while other competitors lose and fall down. That said it goes the other way too. As of today we'd be OUT.............Mainstream ones we're only in FOX(as a 12 seed PIG vs Gonzaga, winner gets 5 Dayton in Dayton - LOL).
