Valerie Nainima hired as Assistant Coach & Recruiting Coordinator Nainima hails from Rakiraki, Fiji. She served with Coach Batth as an assistant at Michigan for two years and befoire that was an assistant at Fordham for four years. During her two seasons with the Wolverines, Nainima was responsible for coaching the point guards. Personally, I am hoping that VN's experience with point guards is enough to keep rising star Kylee Sheppard in house.
PS: For those wondering, the Friars currently have (9) returning players and (4) incoming recruits which accounts for all (13) scholarships. I am searching daily for roster movement and hoping it all comes from the bottom half of team-to-be.

I very hope that I'm wrong, but I'm not a huge fan of this hiring because now we have a head coach who's never been a head coach before hiring an assistant who's never been an assistant coach before. I believe we have one assistant left to hire. For that one I am desperately looking for more experience and less training wheels.

I believe women still get 15 scholarships As far as I know, if all eligible players return, we have nine to work with + four incoming commits. FWIW, I think Sophi Hall (6'1" from MN) might be firm as she follow Coach Bath. The other three, I dunno. Three players to KAEO (Keep An Eye on) would be: 1) Kali Haizlip of Southern Idaho 5'9" SG @ 9.6ppg 35.5%from 3; 77.9%FT. Southern Idaho lost in the D1 JUCO finals. 2) Maddie Nolan, a 5'11" Senior in the portal from Michigan. She started all 33 games from the Wolverines. 9.1ppg, 3.6rpg, 1.5spg, 34.2%-3pt 85.7%FT. 3) Ari Wiggins 5'8" Soph in the portal from Michigan. Mostly glued to the bench for both years at the Wolverines. However, maybe EB sees value.

Any word from the Massachusetts PG Crowley recruited? Zip Zero Nada on Kendall Eddy our most important recruit. Not sure if WBB is like MBB where we would need to be concerned that Crowley might steal her for St. Bonaventure. Our two legs up are 1) She is BE caliber, 2) We're closer to home.

Looks like a staff ready to take on the challenge with lots of experience. Maybe not HC experience, but ready to break out. And lots of enthusiasm.

Need a Big or two for this coming year. Hope current and new players are ready to work hard. They may be in for a good shock.
