Agreed 82. Pan Am Coach. Michigan looked at him really hard. Come to PC and play for this man. Nice try '82 and '71 but my taste runs to stability and not drama. If the cache is elevated, and I think it is even though he was not getting that job, it's elevated mostly in the eyes of other Power 5 teams that will be looking for a coach every Spring. Make no mistake, you boys will see a rerun of this movie a few more times. My idea of stability is not Fake News "Lifetime Contracts" but I suppose there's always someone who breathes deeply and swallows that nonsense....hopefully including recruits. Those who thought Slick Rick could sell sand to the Arabs like no other...move over, Rick has met his match. Well at least we know who has the keys to the College now...at least till June 30, 2020 anyway.

Dex - I too would just assume this not become an annual circus for the Program. I don't believe that Ed's Contact has had a buy-out clause up until now, and am hoping that one will be in place going forward. Not that it would prevent other Programs from overtures - but it would at least become a factor they'd have to consider

I agree, Mr. Dex. Don't think it helps his cache (sorry 82). Let me say I have no issue with him interviewing but it will be used against him on the recruiting trail by other schools. Recruits will (and should) ask about it as well.

Whitefriar - Best you get practicing on the changing of diapers and attending to your first child all night, so that your lovely bride can resume her beauty sleep!

thought he had a lifetime deal? PC coach is getting a raise from $2.5M? you've got to be kidding. That's some kind of Goodbye Kiss Fr Shanley blew to Big Ed on the way out the door. Father must have seen some endearing aspects to last season that we missed.

If PC is truly Ed’s dream job then stop the entertainment of other offers and concentrate on delivering what you promised, a national championship. The brick by brick building took a hit last year. Time to replace some of those bricks with some made threes and a deep run in the Tourney.
....gotta love friartown...

Slick is not a word that describes Ed. And I hope Ed gets continual offers. That would mean he's getting it done and isn't that what we all want? PIZZA, SODA, GRINDERS!!!

The reality is Ed was only considered due to timing and several "first" choices not wanting to jump or even have the discussion at this point in the year. It sucks that he stung us for a raise after last year's performance and not a second weekend of the tourney. Anyone could've thrown their name in the ring to get a raise. What could jay wright have gotten out of nova ? Add to it his love for USA basketball, and it would've been nice for him to say no thanks off the bat.
He'd reportedly had a lifetime deal with a very large buyout and was the second highest paid coach in the BE before today. Our guy is no different than the others. As for being the most loyal coach on the planet, we will find out when we advance past weekend one and several jobs are open.

71 - you think recruits are going to come to PC and play for Ed because Michigan took a look? You dream big.

Ed could have missed the NCAA tournament for a decade and not been courted by anyone, never mind Michigan (BTW, didn’t we play that movie from 2001 to 2010?), so I’m completely fine with this sort of offseason drama. Not having it would be a bigger problem. Back to your regularly scheduled programming.

I am happy he is staying. PC is now a good gig. But,this coming season needs to be a good one to make the fan base happier.
