No way "everybody" comes back in this day an age... True, but Young is definitely not on shortlist of whom I'd like to see move onwards...

It goes without saying that this was an "interesting" and open ended tweet which would fuel a lot of speculation.
I'm going to "trust the process" that Ed has in place, which no doubt, includes one-on-one with players and individually tailored development programs for their off-season.
Kalif appears to be a great kid who is well liked by his teammates and the student body. As a reserve this past season, he got minutes in relief of an experienced, 3rd Year (Indiana, Indian Hills, PC) player, who ideally, will be getting minutes at Power Forward (vs. Center) next season. Among other things, that will depend upon Kalif, who would be wise to review to divergent paths taken by recent players in the program:
1. Ben Bentil: Primarily a reserve player as a freshman, Ben dedicated himself to taking full advantage of off-season development, in order to transform his game into that of an All-American and NBA 2nd Round - Draftee over a 12-month period! Ben trusted, and took advantage of Ed Cooley's "the system", and benefited from it in the process;
2. Pascal Chukwu: As a freshman reserve, Pascal played behind a 5th year, 7-footer who spent two seasons in the ACC before transferring into Providence. With height and athleticism, Pascal was none the less, raw (particularly on the offensive end), so "the system" seemed to bring him along more cautiously - and with less pressure than Ben experienced. None the less, Chukwu was poised potentially earn starter minutes as a sophomore, in a front court that was projected(except for Ben) be absent of big bodies. What's more, Chukwu was going to benefit from the attention that Dunn would receive on the court, let alone the chemistry that he and Kyron had developed in the form of pick & roll - alley opps. Despite this, Pascal opted for another path. Apparently listening to handlers, he moved. The final assessment is incomplete, but from my vantage point:
- Chukwu did not develop in his "off season" at Syracuse; - Eligible this past season, Chukwu didn't play meaningful minutes, with freshman Taureen Thompson grabbing up large chunks of time; - Chukwu missed out on the opportunity to continue playing without interruption, and participating in a 2nd and 3rd NCAA tournament at PC
Two different paths and outcomes, based upon a player's willingness to trust and develop with "the system".
And so now, we shift to next season's roster, and how that might translate to Kalif's aspirations. Like most college kids, I suspect that he'd like to play professionally some day, which will require him to compete for playing time. The addition of Watson (who I sense would be ideal at PF) and Dickens (who some suggest might be a Red-Shirt Center as a Freshman), will provide Kalif with the type of depth that will make practices more competitive - hence, allowing him to refine his game on a daily basis. Nothing against Emmitt, but going up against a 6'7" teammate (despite the 7'3" wingspan) in practice doesn't equate to matching up against Bigger/Taller bodies on a daily basis.
So, Kalif has the benefit of a season under his belt. He has the opportunity to jump right into a productive off-season, understanding the level of fitness, skill, speed and intensity of the Big East. He's on campus now, with the ability to get a few months - head start on Watson/Dickens, in Alumni Hall with the coaches, and Concannon with Ken White.
Final point... I read comments from Kalif's father shortly after his commitment to PC, and seem to recall him acknowledging the need for Kalif to re-sculpt his body and develop his game like Ben did. In those comments, I sensed that his Dad was both pragmatic and at the same time, excited about Kalif's opportunity to develop in "the system". I remember liking what I read at that time.
Time will tell how Kalif (and others) respond to the opportunity.

I took the tweet to mean that there will be another teammate or more leaving for greener pastures.

The fact that he deleted leads me to believe it wasn't about hitting the weight room and books.
Not sure where he'd go unless he goes mid major. With Bullock and Holt only having one more year you're not going to find many Major programs offering a better opportunity to earn playing time.
