www.youtube.com/watch?v=36MGXRADz20&sns=twHey walk whaddya think of this kid? Decent hands and height for the flex? Nice floater in the paint and not too shabby passing. Maybe we don't see as much flex as some would like because of Rodney's hands? I think KC, if he accepts his role, will have enough talent on the floor (especially if Ben returns) to make his mates better. Allows White time to adjust to the big time.

Didn't look like a freshman in those clips

I think Cooley bagged the flex to showcase dunn and it backfired to the point where many thought we had two capable D1 players. Reports had jackson as a top 7 guy last year and if he's as good as reported ( they never are when they sit out) I'd be shocked if all of lindsey, fazekas, jackson, diallo, bullock are on the roster by the end of this season. I'm hoping he's a legit 2G but most comments have him in the front court.

Jackson does look solid in those clips. Its not like we are getting summer reports about how everyone on the team looks like they could be all conference. GMU didn't too thrilled about Jackson leaving. Not saying I expect him to be a 15ppg scorer but he looks like he could hold his own and possibly be an upgrade over Junior.

I'd be really surprised if Jackson couldn't play. The clips here show a player that uses both hands, keeps his head up, has pace to his game and seems to shoot and pass well enough. Fairly active on D, nose for the ball etc....Gotta be a 20 mpg player this season. Also projects as a kid that plays here his senior year and by that time would be one of those valuable upperclassmen you need to be a deep tournament team.

I agree, Rock. The two qualities standing out to me are:
1. He keeps his head up and is, therefore, a sound passer.
2. I know the clips are highlight/recruiting videos but the net barely moved on several of his three-pointers. We didn't have anybody like that this past season.
My only concern...can he shoot it with people in the seats??? Wow! Those were some sparse crowds at GMU.

Was told before last season started that if Jackson were eligible that he would have seen major minutes this past year. He adds that element of unexpected surprise to our newcomers as he has been below the radar. With a year of practice he has a leg up on other newcomers as he has played and also hung with the team.
What needs to be seen with Jackson is the role Cooley wants from him and how well he will respond. Given we now have Holt and Diallo joining us, Cooley and staff will have options on both offense and defense depending on the competition.
Thinking the Flex will definitely return as all these new guys are blended into the rotation also understanding there will be bumps initially - hoping this team evolves into a talented and capable contender.
On paper, at least on Friar stationery, that potential is there much more than any of us have hoped after losing Dunn.
Ben returns and we could be headed back to the Tourney - if he does not come back we will still have a more than decent team taking the floor, especially if Cooley can grab a big....

Ben returns and we land Young (or a comparable 5) and we dance again. Put it in the book.

We will have the same frontcourt as last season plus Holt, but the same rim protection issues. We will have no Dunn, so Cartwright and freshman White will be running point. We replace Lomomba with Jackson and Diallo.

Will depend on improvements we see from guys like Fazekas, what Jackson can give us and what Cartwright can do as a 30 MPG PG. I’m also not sure how many 5s are out there right now that will be good enough to play decent minutes, which means taking a potential scorer like Bullock off the floor. A grad transfer was probably the best shot at finding one in the Spring.

One thing we always leave out when determining our teams chances for the next year is that all the other teams in the conference are also not the same team they were, with the exception of SHU possibly this year.

One thing we always leave out when determining our teams chances for the next year is that all the other teams in the conference are also not the same team they were, with the exception of SHU possibly this year. At this stage it's basically: are we a top 4/5 team in the conference and what we've seen recently is that we have been - largely because a team we thought would be better than us (sometimes multiple teams) end up worse than projected and the offset of teams being better than projected have been fewer in the last three seasons. Hard to start trying to name who those teams will be (unless you're friara, who LIVES for that sort of thing) but if our net roster loss is just Kris Dunn and we add Jackson, Diallo, White, Holt and, say, Young to the rotation that has to see an improved Bullock, Zeek and Lindsey (at least) and Big Ben, then how are we not right there on Selection Sunday? I'm bullish if Ben stays and Young commits.

My biggest concern with Ben is that agents will tell him that with Dunn gone he won't get the ball as much --better defended-- and he won't be a repeat BE scoring champ in '17. I think he's going to have a tough time not listening. Unless he measures out at 6'7 I think he's gone.
The 16-17 edition isn't strong at pg (yet), not that big, and while the wings are talented they really haven't proved they can score against a BE defense.
