LOOKING BACK.... "....Mitchell’s mother, Nicole, described Blaney and Cooley as “very respectable men,” but she also said, “it’s not first-come, first-serve". “It’s what’s going to work for the person,” she said. “It has to be a good match. … When you have that opportunity you may not get again, you jump on it.” There is, of course, no loyalty when it comes to recruiting. Players aren’t getting paid, scholarships can get pulled, coaches leave. Mitchell saw a better opportunity at Louisville, an possible path to the NBA, a better opportunity for March glory, and took it. “Louisville won a national championship [in 2013],” Perovic said. “That’s what Donovan’s about. I love Providence, I love Ed Cooley and I love their coaching staff, but Donovan is trying to play at the highest level" A RESPONSE FROM FRIAR FANS: Friar fans presume that Mitchell and his mother, Nicole, are "very respectable,", but will point out that, "Life isn't always fair". "Things don't always work out as the person expected", they explain. "It may have seemed like a good match ... as you now look back at the better team, that you didn't jump at." There is, of course, no loyalty when it comes to recruiting. Players aren't getting paid, post-season sanctions can be imposed, coaches may leave. Mitchell thought he saw a better opportunity at #25 Louisville, overlooking the path to the NBA that #11 Providence is now providing Dunn and Bentil, and now, he's realizing that Louisville offers no opportunity for March glory, and that he blew it. "Louisville won a national championship (in 2013) on the backs of players who were lured by prostitutes, Friar fans point out. That may not be what Donovan's all about. As for us...we love Providence, we love Ed Cooley and the kids, and wish Donovan a great off season, as he watches the Friars play at the highest level." Maybe Donovan and his mom will reassess things, if RP exits stage left at the end of the season.... nypost.com/2014/08/08/how-a-high-school-stud-teaches-providence-how-brutal-recruiting-can-be/

Culture matters and my guess is Donovan wants a different type of culture...as for Pitino leaving Louisville, I had not heard that. Wouldn't it be ironic if he went back to the Knicks and Cal went to Brooklyn?
Then again, the Gophers job may be available...

So Bill Reynolds says he believes Rick knew nothing about what was going on. I do agree that guys like Boeheim and Pitino want less "babysitting" duties with the players at this stage of their careers. But I don't believe for 1 minute that a low level assistant would be doing anything that could bring a program down w/o a control freak like Rick finding out about it.

Since I don't read BR I have no idea what he's said over the years about the women rumors. But I do think Rick believes in what's called walk around guys. People who do things for you. Even if it's just to tell you how great you are.
His staff probably picked up on that and arranged more than they should have. Did Nixon know about the Plumbers? IDK but he certainly provided an atmosphere for them to exist.

Good thing there's more room in bubbleville cause that's where we're headed. Going to lose today in a pathetic effort. That leaves 3 home games and 4 road games. Need 4 wins to finish over .500 in BE play. I'm getting worried about a collapse here as we're headed to the house of horrors next, margin of error disappearing with each loss.

Yup, was just thinking we might need the room. This looks like our PITT game from Gomes junior year.

DePaul was a crushing loss. Today wouldn't have mattered much if we beat DePaul.

The start to this game was a HUGE FAIL on Cooley's part. Can't have that.
