All things considered I believe this team overachieved. A lot of players are inexperienced and others were not ready to step into the roles they were asked to play. This season has been a great learning experience for coaches and players I am excited to see what our team develops into. No one should guestion our toughness or effort. I believe our team is exhausted and banged up from superior effort. I am proud of Our Friars.

Really dude? You’re going to start this now? This is as idiotic as when you asked me at the start of the season what 15 players are better than Hopkins. You looked like an idiot then and look even worse now with this post. For someone who has no answers to any questions… which one of those 9 coaches is worse than Kim I know you won’t answer, you’ll just avoid the question again And on Hopkins, per T-rank, we were 33rd with him, 97th without him. But go on about how he’s overrated again lol I could have named 50 players better than Hopkins and I would have been right but you would have disagreed and a back and forth would have happened until you finally realized I was right. And again, my overrated statement wasn’t a knock on Hopkins but a knock on the idiot writers who gave him hat label. As for English, this team was picked to finish 7th with our “All American”, so the fact he went down and missed the season and yet here we sit in 6th place with still an outside shot to finish 5th, I’d say English has done a remarkable job and did one of the best coaching jobs in the league.

St Johns was picked to finish 2 spots ahead of us yet without our “All American we are tied with them and went 1-1( and should have win booth games) against them. So who is the better coach, Pitino or English?

Unreal that Gaines went over 30 minutes before taking his 4th shot of the game after starting 2/3 early on. Hopefully sparks a comeback. Didnt he sit for a bit with two fouls???

I wasn't able to watch live, though tried to follow score updates on my phone. Watched a full recording late last night. The recent post about 10-point runs came to mind (was that InfoMan? ... I can't find it). We never fully recovered from the disastrous first five minutes of the 2nd half. Although horribly depressing overall, the rerun didn't seem quite as bad as I imagined while following mere score updates. We still had a chance with a couple of minutes left, down just 6, but then fell flat.

Our guards are getting swarmed and they are not equipped to handle it... Went to the game…. Painfully obvious we have a PG problem. We can’t get North and South. 4 shot clock violations. WTF? Happens every game.

And back to the original post, Gaines does not have the ability to create his own shot. His handle is similar to that of Jalen Lindsey. Nobody's handle is the equivalent of 2 bounce Lindsey.

Gaines dribbled the ball a couple times in the DePaul game. It was not pretty.

If DePaul hires a good coach, we will have the worst coach in the conference. Neptune has dominated us this year Seems strong. Was it Neptune or simply rhe fact Nova is experienced and tougher and we're young and soft against them. I think our guard play, particularly JP and Garwey dictate if we're going to be competitive or awful. Too many poor showings from those 2 IMO and we become totally 1 dimensional and obvious with the DC/Oduro combo trying to fo it all.

Friars now at 63 in the NET and likely the road record will be just as bad Non conference wins in a weak non con were Georgia and Wisconsin ,both are fading with Georgia now near the bottom of the SEC As for 2024/25 the roster looks thin again and lacking frontcourt talent ..Oduro and Carter the two best players will be gone , Gaines gone …what is left isn’t much in terms of an alpha scorer , Hopkins may return but it takes time for a player to get total ability back in that knee Barron looks like the best of the freshman while Dual looks like he should transfer to a smaller school ,Santoro and Delauier are not BE players . Castro is a nice defensive piece off the bench . Pierre , Floyd and Fernandez likely will be the best players on the team next year which isn’t saying much Recruiting wise it looks bleak ..one freshman in Mela who still could be a redshirt and Bonke who is a Euro-stiff and may decide to go pro overseas They currently have one verbal 2025 commitment and unless he reclassifies to 24 ,he too could opt out and reopen his recruitment English like Cooley at G-Town will get 3 years but year two looking ahead is looking like Keno Davis 2.0 This might be the most pessimistic take I've ever seen here, and that's coming from an anxiety riddled pessimist myself. Jeez.

Please tell me which coaches are worse than English Hurley Shaka McDermott Pitino Shaheen Sean Miller Thad Matta Cooley And now you have to say Neptune too Shaheen has been so so at best. Seton Hall looks terrible right now and they have a full roster. Sean Miller? They sucked this yr and are worse than us, so at least this yr he didn't outcoach anyone. Thad Matta started promising and they completely fizzled and will miss tourney. And Cooley has been a hot mess thus far. Again I'm not gonna compare career resumes as KE is too green but just this season he has outcoached and outrecruited everyone (keeping our roster in tact) I just named given the cards he dealt with.

Pretty sure your question was answered above.

Kim English did an outstanding job keeping the team together, and he’s already displayed an elite ability to connect with players. He’s going to be a successful. It’s fair to expect him to learn and develop on the job.
His style of play is more modern than that of our former coach, but my knock on him this season is that I believe there was more of a focus on rolling out his system, while not adapting to the talents within the roster he kind of inherited.
Hopkins wasn’t playing on an all-American level, but within the Big East, he was pretty awesome.
Preseason, I may have been a little optimistic, but I predicted a run to the elite 8.
With Bryce Hopkins, this PC team is playing in the NCAA tourney and there’s enough talent to win multiple games.
Without Hopkins, the team showed heart and Kim English got the most out of the team. Maybe we win out and make the tourney, but prospects without Hopkins are drastically different.
From my perspective, objectively speaking, if a team in the Big East had a chance to reach the elite 8, but loses a player via injury and misses out on the tourney, they lost themselves an all-big East caliber player.

All I know is we better be getting two or three big time transfers or next year will be even worse than this year. You need stars to win in this league. Next year’s roster has Hopkins (coming off a major injury) and no other stars. Unless fans are happy with the NIT. I personally am not. Of course we're going to add guys in the portal. I don't get this morose thinking about 8 months from now on March 3rd. Why write the eulogy for the English era when year 1 is just ending? Nonsensical.
