Just two examples (from today) as to why we want Payton Dunbar:

Sheepishly, I come to the board with a concern regarding our latest recruit's prospects of success in a Friar uniform. Video clips are generally too short to formulate an opinion, so I resort to the only thing I have left: comparative school offers.
For Miss Rodrigrues, the offers she received here in 2024 consist of: Elon, UMBC, UIC and Stony Brook, with Stony Brook coming on 6/27. Back in 2023 her offers came from the likes of Yale, Penn Seton Hall and St. John's. Notice the decline. Intuitively I fear that she is not the level of recruit we will need to compete against the UConn's and Creighton's of the Big East. I hope to be 100% wrong down the road.
Above I made the case for Payton Dunbar. She has a much different profile (available upon request). I hope Olivia R. didn't take the last 'ship to be awarded during this go-around. Note that Hamburger, Moody and Rodrigrues are all guards, as is Dunbar. How many more 2025 guards will Coach Batth take? Only the staff knows.

With 10 seniors or grad players, the incoming class has plenty of available slots...

FYI - She's talks about her final 6, including PC. Seems a bit of a Va. Tech lean...
Providence “Oh, my goodness, I love Coach Erin [Batth]. She’s amazing. She’s like a mom and she’s so smart, too. She knows basketball, and I just love that entire coaching staff.”

Pcb7777 said:"committed to Virginia (and re-classing into 2024)" [/quote] Getting the Ashley Dinges commitment takes a lot of the sting out of missing on Dunbar. Her reverting to 2024 caught me off guard. We were not in a position to offer that option.

Sorry. I has promised to comment on Ashley Dinges but found myself in the hospital with no internet access. Now back, I will say that IMHO Miss Dinges is the star recruit out of our (5). First, in the link below, notice she is rated #1 in New England in 2025: prepgirlshoops.com/2023/01/2025-rankings-the-top-5/This is the type of recruit Coach Batth needs in order to elevate the Friar program. You should also know that she is a 6'1" SF, different from the other four. Per Prospects Nation: "Dinges is a wing who does a variety of things well on the court. She can finish plays in transition as well as using her size to affect the game in the paint. When facing up on the perimeter she is quick to swing the ball or find the open player in the flow of the offense. She proved to be valuable as a cutter in the half court. She flashes to the open area, which creates offense or opportunities for her teammates. Working on becoming more confident with her weak hand on the perimeter will add more dimensions to her game."

Another AAU tournament and Ashley Dinges has once again been listed as a top performer. Also noteworthy is two others who have been offered by PC, Julia Scott and Jasmine Cooper, are also on that list.

Three new offers in recent days. Brooke Golden: A 2026 of whom not much written about her at this point. Only other offer at this point is Holy Cross. Khalia Hartwell: A 2027 6'5" Center who is the #1 player in South Carolina according to PrepGirls Hoops. Already holds offers from VTech, Clemson, SMU and Wake Forest. JaKaila Gaskin: A 2028 6'3" athletic power forward from Charlotte, NC. This is from Carolinacourts.com re: Gaskin: "It is easy to see the potential of JaKaila Gaskin simply by looking at her height alone but Gaskin showed that she has much more to offer than that. Gaskin was a dominant force on the boards on both ends of the court coming up with rebound after rebound while displaying great touch around the rim. On top of all that Gaskin showed the ability to put the ball on the floor and create for her teammates as well. As JaKaila Gaskin continues to develop there is no limit on what she can achieve in the future at the next level."

Loren Missy Green visited unofficially yesterday. She's a 2027 5'8" point guard from Aquinas in New York. She was offered by the Friars back in April of this year. Also holds offers from URI and St. Bonaventure.

In a rare situation, we've learned far in advance that one of our 2025 commits will be red shirting:
