One thing that Covid-19 has uncovered is the value of online learning. Ie: Get your degree and save lots of cash and debt. Therefore, schools may struggle to secure incoming classes. Tuition increases, which have been riding upwards on the escalator for a long time may be forced to hit the pause button. State schools in states with budget issues also face funding problems on that side.
But if institutions of 'higher learning' face headwinds due to these issues, you won't find any sympathy from me. IMHO, those places are the breeding grounds for Marxism, and if they close or consolidate it won't be fast enough for me.

Except pc is in deep crap if kids aren't on a campus. Unlikely you're scratching that check for online learning.

Kids from families with means find a way to get on campus according to a VERY big PC guy I spoke with very recently. I think we would be amazed as to how many kids, or should I say parents, pay full boat at PC. I'm given to understand that if 20% choose online learning, we are still good. I'm no authority in these matters but to me the bigger threat is that when the socialists take over they will subsidize State universities to the Nth degree and at some price point it starts to hurt us. It's not just parochial schools which will be effected, although my source says a bunch are going out of business by June 2021, but this week Johnson & Wales, a private institution, announced it is closing their Colorado and North Florida schools permanently. JWU has about 7,000 undergrads in RI and is broadening their curriculum each and every year. As Infoman mentioned, I won't be crying for all the professors, or should I say run of the mill teachers, that will be losing their highly paid, under-worked and idealogically centered positions of higher learning. The good schools that grudgingly decide to operate like a business will survive, the rest can go ____ themelves. Their inability to control costs in an environment of subsidized tuition and loans, which are actually subsidies because so few repay the government, is a disgrace and a dis-service to the country. |

According to Bloomberg, the richest liberal arts university in the country, Williams College, has slashed tuition by 15% "in recognition of the extraordinary circumstances and of this academic year and the uncertainty we face in the year ahead."

Williams has billions $2.9 Billion endowment and only 2,000 students...easy for them to do.

so 10X PC...do they give you a 4 year guarantee? I'm guessing it doesn't apply to room and board and their tuition is/was $60K.
...and dex i think the challenge will be getting the 20%. I wouldn't bother with a frosh, although i think pc has said kids are coming back

I think we are in real trouble now. What happens after Thanksgiving could be a wipeout. It's hard to be optimistic for 20-21 seasons in any sport. Bad.

We are just no starting to see the "white collar" lay-offs...would expect they continue and accelerate as firms/colleges etc. will adjust their cost structure to their revenues (which are lower).

UConn fans seem genuinely excited to be associated with the BigEast and its members. God give them the sustained humility to remember where their program and mental state of mind has been over the past several seasons, and how pumped up they are to jump up in weight classes.
