I've read several of these threads on "The Holy Land of Hoops" board and the UConn board. One poster (might have been a PC fan) said he had heard this thru a top PC donor. I haven't paid much attention to this since the topic has been beaten to death. I just read that post again. It said that the largest private donor and PC (Ruane?) confirmed all of this.

I think UCant's rivalries with East Carolina and Tulane are way too important to give up. /sarc.

I have seen both affirmative and negative posts from various people in the media. We'll see soon enough.

Sone of the major conferences are moving to 20 game league schedules. If the BE were to do it, we could keep the double round robin format. I am all for adding the huskies and going to 20 games, it seems like a great move for the league.

It's disappointing though not surprising. The implied threat that they will leave the AAC/football league if their B'ball isn't allowed to exit for the BE, has been around a while. Even while the league said they wouldn't allow FB-only status.
So it's been pretty obvious this was the direction which would eventually be arrived at. Will more money be worth it to the BE? I suppose so. But I don't necessarily think it will stabilize the BE and all future threats will end.

UCONN should have to buy their way in AND have a huge buyout with a lengthy notice if they ever split. They got a lot of money when the Holy Land schools split.

I thought the split was financially in our favor? That was the spin back then anyway.
Interesting that this is happening now. Wonder if Hurley had some advanced info when he took the gig. Have buyouts been enforceable?

Per Kmac:
No formal vote yet to be taken but Big East has discussed adding a school with UConn being top of list. Need to be convinced why this is the `home run' move many are saying. Life raft for Huskies.
Per Kfar:
Bad for PC, very likely good for the Big East, great for UConn. No other program in the league stands to lose more than Providence. What happened to “like-minded” schools?
Donaldson:
Can see why @uconnmbb wants in. Not sure why @bigeastmbb wants the Huskies. "Life raft," indeed. Move benefits #UConn more than #BigEast. From local perspective, don't see it as a plus for @pcfriarsmbb. And @uconnfootball will be even worse. If that's possible.
Hoppy:
From a Providence perspective, this brings a former rival back into the league to guarantee a home and home every season (likely 20 game league schedule to follow an 11th team entering the league). But, Providence and UConn were close to renewing the series as an OOC game #pcbb
