Disagree. Cooley hasn’t recruited shooters, so might as well make it harder on the teams that shoot better than us (everyone).

On the plus side, maybe it'll be harder for others.
On the down side, we may never make a 3.
I think I'd prefer it stay where it is now. I prefer making shots.

This might result in the inside game becoming more important. Will we be ready? Emmitt, how art thou?

May? Did you watch us play UMass the last couple of years? Against us the last 3 years, he went for 20 pts- 2016, 30 pts - 2017 & 26 pts.-2018, as UMass beat us 2 out of 3 games. The last two years he went 22 for 37 FG. and while he only shot 36% over that span from the 3, they always seemed to be daggers. From last year's roster, only AJ shot a better percentage. As to transfers, I'm all for anyone who can help the Friars. PIZZA, SODA, GRINDERS!!!

Like the change and would like to see lane widened as well.
Players will adjust. The three will have more value...
Since we lack shooters right now, this could actually help us and going forward it will be a positive for everyone, changing the college game for the better.

The NBA game has also radically changed. Jeff van Gundy is always complaining when he sees NBA players pass up a layup to pass out to a 3 Pt shooter. 50% of Milwaukee's shots in Game 5 the other night were from 3. Their cemter, 7' Brooke Lopez, took 7 shots and every on was from 3.

IMHO, widening the lane would only make the case for 3-pt shooting stronger. And as I said earlier, moving the 3-pt line back will make the the roll of big men and their inside game even more important. There is a mystical balance ratio between inside play and outside play and it originates with where that line is placed. Its new location also means that defenders need to move out one more step that before wasn't there before and that, in turn, creates a fraction more spacing on the inside that wasn't in play with the line's prior placement.

I listened to Zach Lowe interview Kirk Goldsberry on his Lowe Post podcast and they discussed this topic at length, albeit as it relates to the NBA game. Kirk made a great point that every rule change in the last several years has benefited the guards such as widening the lane, adopting the 3 and eliminating the hand check. Both agreed there are too many 3’s attempted now and too many guys can make them. For example, there were more made 3’s this season than in the 1980’s. It’s a smart discussion and even if you don’t watch much NBA, it’s worth a listen because the topic applies to all levels of the game.
Their thoughts were to extend the line and narrow the lane to shift some importance back to the bigs. Doing both at the college level would have the same impact and I am all for it. The line is too short now and extending it would bring some creativity to the game as we would see even more styles of play introduced.

Another minor change also proposed was changing the shot clock from 30 seconds to 20 on an offensive rebound. Makes sense.
