Probably no Phil Booth next time around..he broke a bone in his hand LATE in the game.

You can't go by the announcers or what Nova did. If we had Booth and DiVincenzo on bench it wouldn't be big deal. Brunson played 32 minutes and KC only 27. Need KC on floor for 32-33 minutes. He sat to much in 1st half. Fwiw I rarely Monday morning QB as i realize it's something that can be nitpicked after every loss but this wasn't a questionable play or anything. If we could rewind the scenario I'm 90% positive Ed would keep him in.

Thump...You play it like Ed did if you're playing DePaul, not Villanova. It doesn't take a Monday morning QB to figure that out. Unless you are willing to concede a loss in the 1st half. Not arguing that he sat him on the bench. Arguing that he sat him too long.
Chances are we lose by double digits anyway like Dex suggested, but by sitting 10+ in half 1, with the lack of options we have at the 1, you guarantee a loss, plain and simple.
When we played the iron 6 with Cotton, Fortune, Harris, Batts, Henton and Carson, would Ed have pulled Cotton and sat him for 10+ given the same situation? There was no 2nd option then and there isn't one now. We may have more bodies now, but not many more playable bodies, who can compete with the #1 team in the land.

Coaches generally trust a senior in that position.. I thought he sat him too long.

I can't believe this KC thing is even a question. Cooley sat him too long and in effect raised the white flag In The First Half. It was not only a mistake in strategy in trying to win the game but it sent an awful message to the rest of his team...a team that was oozing confidence going in to the contest. If asked on the Radio Show I would guess that Big Ed would say: "that's on me". It's no big deal...he's human and occasionally screws up and he often admits it similarly to me and dis-similarly to #neverthumper.

The Monday morning quarterbacks and #dexthekingofalternativefacts (all of whom might never have coached bball at any level above 7th grade) just don't understand a coaching mantra ... don't let your key players pick up a 3rd foul in the first half. But Lord forgive them for they are blinded by their fanhood. Cooley wasn't quitting nor was he raising the white flag. He was coaching to win. And remember, though coincidental to Kyron not being on the floor, Nova (who had gone something like 1 for 12 in the first 6 minutes), finally started to hit the shots we KNOW they're capable of making. It wasn't Kyron's defense that kept them quiet early. PIZZA, SODA, GRINDERS!!!

I’m in the too long on the bench camp, too...but we missed 6 straight foul shots in that first half debacle with KC on the bench and we we were still down only 4 in the second half...so it was a winnable game even with that huge run nova made with KC sitting.

I would add in that same stretch, that Jackson missed two bunnies, Young 1 and Bullock was hacked on a bunny. He then missed both FT. Ironically KC did not get any fouls in the 2nd half although he did not cover Brunson as much in 2nd half.

0 2 2 0 1 1 1 1 2 3 1 1 1 2 3(OT) 1 0 1 0 2
above are KC's foul totals for this year, reached 3 twice(1 OT) and never even had 4 once. To me this is the main reason why he should've been on the floor

And fwiw if picking up a 3rd was to be so highly avoided then why did we see KC in the game at all after that 2nd foul?? You are aware he played in the 1st half after the 2nd foul right??

Staying on cue and actually reading the posts on this thread actually might help your comprehension, newbie.
Coached high school level AAU teams, playing in top AAU tournaments from Virginia into Canada ... back in the late 80's when AAU started into the early 2000's ... faced teams like BABC, MA Wildcats, Long Island Lightning, Albany City Rocks before sneaker deals, Vegas Showcases and leagues like EYBL, etc. Also officiated basketball for decades and trained the basketball officials for over 10 years.
