That's worth another 1/2 mill from Fr Shanley It's the business of the game..agents, coaches and media all in cahoots Not a knock on Big Ed...it's just the way it is these days IMAGINE...friggin Phil Knight helping to cut down the nets for Oregon YEAH fellow specimens...YOU READ THAT RIGHT so sad Stop it, Ed. If you and your agent are looking for another $500k, then make the call to Father Shanley now, and get the raise out of the way. Honestly, I don't see the value of sending these sorts of comments and potentially casting doubt in the minds of your recruiting prospects. Ed's in the midst of a busy period when transfers or players released from their NLIs could commit - immediately. Beyond that, comments that he'd be crazy not to pick up the phone and listen, could be used by competing coaches and programs, in casting doubt in the minds of the Class of 2017, 2018 and beyond. Things are about to pick up across the recruiting landscape over the coming month. Here are a few dates to keep in mind: This Coming Weekend: Final Four Weekend - The Final Four doubles as a "speed dating service" between schools and some of the hotter coaching prospects. High/Mid-Major dominos will being falling by this time next week; - The next two weeks are an ideal period to chase down kids backing out of NLIs; Transfers and uncommitted 2017 targets. April 6 - 19: Recruiting Period (Class of 2018) April 12 - May 17: Spring Signing Period (Class of 2017) April 21- 23: Evaluation Period (Certified Tournaments) April 28-30: Evaluation Period (Certified Tournaments) Buckle Up And I will say he could say to players and coaches isn't it cool that Georgetown wants me and I'm not going?

Father Smith provided zero $ for lack as in no ships, zero. Spending in athletic facilities, zero. Yes he hired BD but Bob was going to leave (applied for San Diego State ) because every decision had to be cleared through Father Smith. We were going nowhere I hate seeing the constant abuse on Fr. Smith. He was the one that made the VERY tough call to can John Marinatto and hire BOB DRISCOLL.... I would get someone harkening back to when Fr. Cunningham rhetorically asked "if we really needed D-1 sports " at PC. That drove me crazy. Smith was NOT Fr. Cunningham. He wanted to see athletics have success. He gets a bad rap for dumping baseball. A move that made sense IMHO. Throw the money at lax...Where PC could actually compete... And until a few short years ago, before Mike Chapey and others stepped up, neither did Fr. Shanley. What, 8 years into his tenure? And I love Bob, but he applied for jobs in The Shanley era as well. Fr. Shanley has had the benefit of moving on from a few bad hires in Bob's years as well. Did he "sign off" on Tim Army and Keno? Key thing here is Shanley has been the beneficiary of fundraising that has been so important, but began when Fr. Smith had the sack to move John Marinatto at the risk of ticking off Pitino, Lou, and plenty of others. I know you are a mover and shaker in the world of PC, but a few others were there as well. Don't go down the revisionist history path.

During the Knicks vs Pistons game on MSG, Stan VanGundy is advocating for Patrick Ewing as the next Hoya Coach. An NBA Assistant since 2003 , Ewing has experience and more importantly, a love of G'town. Also speaking about Mutombo crediting Patrick for his development as a center.
The fact that he wants the position while already having a net worth of $100m or so "speaks volumes" about his passion for the game, per Clyde Frasier.

$ 100 mill? WOW I would have never guessed that much. I suspect some influential Hoya alums helped him preserve that nest egg

Kind of funny. I was reading an article published today on Casual Hoya discussing EC as a candidate for Hoyas. Said 8/10 chance he was their choice. Posters were all over it some even saying how upset Friar fans would be when they got him. Then the last post is the Kmac story saying EC is not interested in Georgetown. .

I just created a new Topic specific to this KMac story.
Felt it deserved it's own string.

Did it say 8/10 he was their choice OR he'd rank the hire an 8/10.....believe Hurley received the same.

Walk does this guy have cred?
Jeff Ermann‏ @jeff_Ermann 1h1 hour ago More Hearing Dan Hurley and Jamion Christian (Mount St. Mary's) are real possibilities for the #Hoyas job. Tommy Amaker might be fading.

Two good coaches but, with big John still lurking around campus, that is hardly an A-list of top coaches running to the Hilltop...Hurley may be best suited to deal with big John, given his own father is also a basketball legend...

He called it 8/10 desirability. I see this morning he gives the same to Christian from Mt St Mary's. Crean only got a 4. I wonder if Jeff Capel's name surfaces?

Patrick Ewing is far more capable and competent than most know...that he has kept his fortune is no surprise to this Friar.
Disgraceful were the "if you could read this sign" neo- racists who taunted him whilst a Hoya - Ewing is a sharp and talented man who is well respected by all who know him.
He could be a great fit at Georgetown for so many reasons and yes, he would need to shore up his staff - and he sure would know that coming in the door.

don't know much about ermann but hurley seems to be the name I'm hearing the most. Dowtin is from this area. Not sure how he'd measure up on the bench but I'm guessing he'd do extremely well recruiting the locals...and we know the passion is there.
