Forget measuring this with standings (we could still finish 8th/9th) and let the eyeball test inform you. Has Ed had a great coaching year? If so what moves or non-moves tell you that? If not, what moves didn't and should have happened?.....and so forth.

I'd say if PC wins out these last 3 and somehow finishes in top 3-4 in BE and goes on to make tourney, that is a pretty strong case for Big Ed. They were picked 9th for Christ sakes. Lots of work left to do though.

Cooley has probably done more with less when considering the expectations coming into the season. If this team wins the last 3 he has a very realistic chance. Like Backcourt Joe said if we had a couple more back we could easily be sitting 3rd. With the way Xavier is sliding a top 4 finish is within reach.

You realize that every other coach gets to play the "if we had a couple more back" game, right? You also have to factor in we've been healthier than just about any COY contending team. And, DMac, you can't count the victories in advance and then get irritated when others don't agree with you based on anticipated, hopeful, wishful results. That's whacked. We also have two losses to teams with a combined conference record of 4-26 - we represent HALF of those wins! Let's see how this plays out before we start handing out trophies. Good grief, we still have a losing record! Now, we run the table and end up in the Dance then I'll start the campaign for NATIONAL COY for Eddie. BTW, great win last night!

Rock are you on drugs? You're consistently one the of best posters here but I don't get where you're coming from. We're all in agreement, AS PREVIOUSLY STATED there is lots of "work left to do" to use the annual committee quote. If we finish top 3-4 after being picked 9th and make the tourney that is a strong contender, with at least honorable mention for Big Ed as COY. We're all talking hypotheticals here, which is ok as fans. I hate it when people try to chastise others for projecting out "what if" scenarios. Isn't that half the fun of being a fan and being on a message board with other Friar lunatics? The team isn't reading this board don't worry.
and I wasn't irritated at anyone until your post. I'm still baffled you called me out for what I wrote. I 100% stand by it. IF -HUGE IF, we win out and probably grab 1 at BET and get a tourney invite, he's a stronger contender than anyone in this league, in my humblest of opinions. That ok? Could care less if you or Eeyore disagrees. For the record I don't think we'll actually win out, or get the invite, and thus no COY for Big Ed, but it is now possible thanks to the hard work, not quitting, and coaches led by Big Ed keeping the troops marching............... WTF...

No, I am not on drugs and have never even tried them. Where I'm coming from is let's get off the record and projections and ask to-date answer has this been a great coaching job by Ed. If I've been unclear or somehow irritating to you with my articulation of that point then your forgiveness is appreciated.
Lastly, I just have a hard time with any posts that presume a series of if/then's that the author themselves acknowledges are unlikely. That's what irritates ME in case you were wondering. Hahaha. Go Friars!

If Butler finishes second, Holtman will win COY. They've been ranked for most of the year and have a sweep over Nova.

So what. That team is not going anywhere Cooley and his coaching gang have done the best job in BE play this year If we finished two other games or three other games like we did last night. Friartown would be in third place Coach had no experience and has worked his tale off getting Cartwright Lindsey Holt to enjoy the game and play togetherness
Coach Cooley. COY in many eyes in BE

If I've been unclear or somehow irritating to you with my articulation of that point then your forgiveness is appreciated. Today Cooley has done a GOOD job, in my humblest of opinions. This is a rebuilding year in which fellow coaches picked PC to finish 9th. We're currently 6th and are in the hunt. Can finish as high as 3rd and make the dance. If he pulls that off or enough to be top 4 and dance then its a "great" coaching job. If we finish top 6 and sneak in then its a very good coaching job but would not merit strong COY consideration. I think the finish in the league in addition to dancing would matter. Well that's not much fun now is it. And here I thought that was the entire point of these boards, to speculate and imagine "what if" and project out 3-4 games or even the whole season....The task at hand, while somewhat unlikely, is not impossible, and in fact is looking more likely based on their play of late. Drop one or two and we close this thread and start focusing on next season.

As of right now:
1. Holtmann
2. Wright - Go ahead and scream but he's coaching with a huge target and without three key players (including Omari Spellman)
3. Cooley (still work to do, especially getting out of the first night of the BET)

then you can give him a trophy.
I'm just telling you who's most likely going to win it. We're most likely finishing 4th or 5th if things go in our favor. I don't know the specifics of the butler roster but have heard the "new parts" description several times during their games. So call it anti-pc or we're getting screwed or whatever...
..and isn't the award before the BET?

What COY are people talking about....I think the Commish was referring to BE COY in which case it is voted on at the end of the regular season. Butler coach would get it IMHO, his OOC wins, beating VU twice and as it stands now second in the league...
