Spot on walk.........given the injuries to Watson and Sumner together with Nova's inconsistency, there is trouble on the horizon for the Big East next month. Cripes if we can be within a hoop with a minute left in a game against Nova then anyone can beat them unless they get a great bracket draw.
As for Creighton, it didn't take too long for them to resume their scoring proficiency so they might surprise even without Watson.
X is in big trouble and to me Butler is what they have been all year...a good little team going nowhere.
SJU and the Hoyas are very dangerous teams IMO...I suppose some of our opponents think the same of us but perhaps we are too close to the team and magnify their warts more than some Big east fans and we don't see us dangerous.
As for Mikemc the comedian and his love affair with Jackson after one friggin game...if he can play consistently decent like he did today, I would drink the Kool-Ade too....Gladly
I was dismayed that a marginally decent Big like Fowler was a problem for us today.
IMO we didn't take nearly the advantage available AGAIN of Diallo down low on a small guard...we may not be good enough with the entry passes so clear out and put him on a block and try it till they stop it. Lewis may not be that good but get him off the floor and you will see how bad Butler's offense really is without his steady play.

Jackson played great...for jackson...8pts, 2 assts, 3 rebs...let's not build a statue yet. BUT a comparable line the rest of the way would help.
Lindsey only gets off six shots....I just don't get it. We do play hard though. I'd predicted 3-4 and could see going one better if bluett is hurt.
Maybe sju...not sure about the hoyas.

We have to keep in mind that Jackson is only a sophomore. We've all been frustrated with his performance on occasion but there's a history of player improvement under EC and if he can keep progressing, there's no reason he can't have more games like yesterday and a lot less games like Wednesday.

WE took the packed house crowd out of the game for the first several minutes - ugly and clueless BUT... Butler was awful save for #51 as both teams clunked and clanged. Frustrating to see their little guy guarding Diallo underneath yet most times we did not advantage until we did, finally. Was counting Lindsey's shots hoping for at least 10 - 6 is unacceptable even as Rodney tossed up some clunkers and Cartwright tried to do too much. Give Butler credit - they were awful... * Great afternoon at the Dunk despite the rock fight of a game. Students out in force; Parents filling the house with everyone itching to cheer until they finally could as this thing wound down to our improbable W. Quip of the day? "Relax guys, they are all coming back next year"

Diallo is growing up fast. He's the go to guy of the future. Bullock can not continue to jack (and 70-80% of them are complete jacks) 15 shots per game. Just terrible shot selection and lack of execution. The one handed floaters in the lane against double teams, and the pull up 27 footers with 25 seconds on the shot clock, must stop.
On a separate topic, why does a large enough portion of our offense consist of Cartwright pounding the ball into the floor until 7 or 8 seconds remain on the shot clock, only to result in us taking a low percentage shot or a shot clock violation? It's been happening a lot, especially recently.

Just watched the game replay. Butler fans have nothing to complain about as the Bulldogs beat themselves. And our fans were loud but not obnoxious.
Agree with everything said here...Bullocks mostly bricked, Cartwright forced a little to much, Diallo and Jackson had good games except at the end where Jackson completely lost his man for an easy bunny. And saw that saw that some of those minutes with neither Holt or Young on the floor were from the 6min down to 2min mark in the 2nd half when Cooley was protecting Holt's four fouls. That led to some frightening mismatches vs Chrabascz down low, back to line one...Butler did not capitalize.

Yes he is by default.
The hints of solid talent are there, no doubt and we must remember - FRESHMAN...
Rodney has the skill sets but lacks court smarts and presses in the role of "go to guy". He works hard out there yet the criticism amplifies when he seems to zone out and boneheads many balls...not sure if there is a cure, (talent minus court smarts), but forcing a leadership role on him is probably not advisable. We have a lot of sample examples and yesterday they were several.
Much maligned Jalen Lindsey is someone who has stepped up and demonstrated good court smarts and leadership yet 6 shots is unacceptable - so who is at fault for that? If it is Lindsey then OK, needs more salt and pepper seasoning; if not then shame on the team for not using his skill sets to help the effort...(doubt this is on the staff).

I think Lindsey still goes to the 3pt line and sits too often. But going into this year,he was only a stand-still 3 point shooter and maybe the habit is hard to break. Last game they had him post up a smaller player and he scored over him. He certainly has improved his rebounding on the defensive end. I did notice the bandage on his left hand. I didn't remember him wearing that the last game but obviously he was wearing it during the stretch he was hurt. Despite his shooting woes and sitting during the 2nd half run, Bullock was the leading rebounder in the game. It was one thing for Diallo to get the rebound but then they gave him a free run to the rim. Maybe Chrabascz was looking to see who was eating his cookies.

It's been happening a lot, especially recently...yankee - I've been wondering about this as we try to recruit elite two guards. imo this started a couple years ago when cooley went out of his way to showcase dunn and he's appeared to have stuck with it. Our two leaders in shot attempts are our worst shooters based on FG%. I believe Lindsey's hit 10 shot attempts twice this year and guessing not 10 times in three years. Now his shooting's been awful until now but how many plays do they run for this guy? Why would you come here as a 2 if you're not going to get shots. I'd use this to death if I was recruiting against PC.
Jackson - could do well against the teams with A10 athleticism. I just don't see a high ceiling with him. If everyone stays on schedule for the next 3 years and we happen to get that 2G, Jackon's probably 7th/8th man for his entire career.
With Martin off the reservation and Lewis logging the PG minutes, they put very little pressure on the ball. I think we had 9 TOs which is probably our lowest since Jan 1 and is what won us the game. Believe we had double against DePaul and SJU.

In defense of Lindsey and Bullock- how would rebounding look without them on the floor?
I think If Bullock didn't look to score from inside, midrange, outside, some of us would be critical of his reluctance to score.
Statistically, aren't most shots doomed to miss?
Would love to see Lindsey look for more shots or to run more plays for him. He had some good looking shots that simply did not fall.
If Rodney didn't hit the opening three at around the 17:00 minute mark the Friar fans may have been standing until well under the first two tv timeouts... Don't fact check that comment... ha, ha. (Sit down fans, you are blocking the view of play....)

Sitting Bullock a little during games like happened yesterday is OK and perhaps informative for him to watch.
Rodney is frustrating to all you head coaches that post here but we can't win if he doesn't play.
It's the real Head Coach's responsibility to reign him in a little on offense
