Sure didn't seem like that many were there. Weather probably had an impact on the end total. Will be interesting to see what happens tomorrow night.

I am guessing based on some anecdotal comments the school reports "tickets sold" rather than asses in the seats... I know some have claimed they report turnstile numbers, but does anyone really believe that? Edit: on rethinking this, their season ticket base is what 5-6k or something? So maybe they do report turnstile numbers?
Anyway unless they get close to 8k for a late weeknight tip against Maine, they will not reach last season's OOC gate, with 1 extra event having been hosted at the Dunk. Either way let's hope we close out with 2 important OOC wins, and head into the BE with a fighting chance. If they split one of the two opening landmine road games against top 20 comp, we might have something here. The crowds will follow.

4257 for Maine.
I added in the final 3 OOC games to the original post. Lowest OOC attendance avg since I've been keeping track 3 seasons ago. Kind of disappointing to see all those 4,000 games. Those are URI numbers. Let's hope they get a big bounce in the BE, this team deserves it from what they have done thus far. Of course how they perform in the first few games will determine a lot of what the fan support will look like. Probably a tall order to match the numbers from last year in the BE, which were stellar.

The Dunk was pretty dead for most of the night last night. Seemed like fans were waiting PC to get blown out. Dunk security at its best last night telling the little chubby kid behind the visitors basket he couldn't take his shirt off to distract the GU foul shooters.
....gotta love friartown...

Agree about the kid behind the basket. But they let him come back after he put his shirt on. Actually thought the Dunk was pretty good last night, especially with the students on break. PIZZA, SODA, GRINDERS!!!

I live right near Gillette Stadium. Driving home last night during the game, I noticed one of the huge digital billboards about 2 miles north of the Stadium on Rt1 had the Friar logo vs the Hoya logo and it said "Big East Opener" with the game date and large Big East logo. These billboards cycle through every 15 seconds or so to different adverts, but highly visible. Either PC or the Big East is advertising. Was cool to see.
As for the Dunk I would expect a good and big crowd Sat vs #10 Creighton, probably a sellout or close. It's 2pm on CBSSN, so most folks who follow the team and can make it will want to go.

Snow coming Saturday and game on tv...if weathermen are right, forgetaboutit
I hope it's not on cbs, eh Dmac!
I don't care as long as we win which is dubious considering JR and Sonar think the Blue Jays are Final 4 material.
if Patton keeps improving they might be right.

Cbssn, which is pretty weak exposure I believe. 1 inch of snow starting afternoon. Better be a big crowd there.

New forecast shows a change in the front moving north more, now hearing 6 or more inches, storm watch starting on Saturday morning thru Saturday night. Definitely see this could impact attendance although it helps to be a Saturday and not a work day I guess. I plan to be there.
