I think he's as hot as he's ever going to get. Although, the preseason hype tends to help a lot too. See Dunn, last year projected as a mid first rounder, then all the preseason hype builds and he was quickly looking at consensus lottery in the mock drafts.
A large point here is how much better does Dunn make Bentil? Earlier in the year Ben was in young Shawn Kemp mode, for being fast down the floor getting out on breaks and finishing strong at the rim with good footwork and hands. Since BE play has started, I see Ben standing out more on his own, especially in Marquette. But, if Dunn leaves and Ben stays, will he be able to up his stock with this surrounding cast?
Maybe one thing that could change is his position. I could see people iin the NBA being cautious this year because he's playing very much out of position. In the NBA he'll be a 3/4 and playing against much more athletic players closer to his size overall. Maybe staying another year+ he can play the 4 and showcase a game that's easier to translate at the NBA level. I dunno...
Thoughts?

If he is a sure first rounder, I'd say he should leave.
However, I think he's an NBA SF so he probably needs more development on the handle and shot if he wants to be a first rounder.
Just a guess, obviously.
But man, I'm shocked at how good he is.

I think Bentils only shot at the nba us to improve his ball handling and face up game.....I had my doubts but now actually think he can do it by coming back. The kid is an absolute warrior and looks the type that will do whatever it takes...
However, If he's projected in the first round, anywhere in the first round, he has to go....there are too many uncertainties with our roster....

Good point about his face up game. I cringe every time he puts the ball on the floor from anywhere outside of 15 feet.

www.sny.tv/college-recruiting/news/providences-bentil-enters-2017-mock-draft/162979756"He does not even need to think about coming out this year [2016]," one NBA executive said of Bentil. "He's a nice college player but an under-sized 4 with limited range. He has a long ways to go." A second NBA scout was more optimistic: "Tougher, quicker [than his opponents] and coming on faster than just about everyone." I think he should absolutely come back and think he will. If he can develop into more of a SF, I'd imagine he can be a 1st rounder in next year's draft. The thing with Bentil is he is going to be 21 in March. Pretty old for a sophomore...but still, I have a very hard time seeing him as a 1st rounder this year...He is probably 6'7, and has plenty of things to work on...Not even close to a SF type yet, but he may have the tools. I think it's a very fair question to ask if he is more of a 4 year great college player than a kid that should leave early for the NBA...school is important to him I believe and some kid just don't translate to the NBA. Greedy was a monster as a sophomore too...

You do know Ben is playing in one leg, correct? And while I agree on the SF skill set, not sure how much that helps our team. If you think he's benefiting from dunn, wouldn't you think that would favor him coming out?
..and don't insult Ben Bentil by comparing him to greedy Peterson...

I know he's playing hurt lately, but it doesn't change the fact he is undersized and not an elite athlete. His speed and quickness is impressive, but his elevation near the rim is nothing above average...He has a lot to work on offensively as a PF even IMO. His back to the basket moves need work. He needs to get much more crafty with his post scoring ability if he is going to be scoring in the NBA...and of course as a SF he has a long ways to go.
Only reason I brought up Greedy is because of of the stats. He put up 20/10 as a sophomore and we were having the same NBA discussions about him that season too. Bentil is probably two inches taller, but Greedy's SF skills were much better. Until Bentil stops playing D and throws himself an alley-oop off the back board in traffic and slams it, he is no Greedy Peterson.

You changed the post about him not runnung the floor....how many ppg did we avg under keno and more importantly how many did we give up. Despite some loving that style to attract recruits, it was comparable to the Harlem globetrotters....

Here we go again: if he projects as a top-20 pick he needs to go. If he doesn't, he needs to stay. It's more a supply and demand issue in the draft than a skill-set readiness issue. People keep screwing that up. Of course, someone might say he should come out even if he's a 2nd round pick because he'll be one year closer to free agency and we can have some fun with that one as the player toils in the D League in that "free agent year". Sarcasm intended.

Of course it's easy to make the assumption that a previous player would "get it" and graduate with a degree, and not consider that his game would be exposed in college, hed declare anyway after a year and not get squat. Especially considering the decisions made prior.

Get your education Ben and take the next 2 seasons to work on your game. If it's meant to be it's meant to be. Money will always be there overseas but enjoy college and work on those skills to get to the next level.

Money will always be there overseas but enjoy college and work on those skills to get to the next level. Unless you are a first rounder. College education opportunity will always be there too. A young, healthy body won't.
