3 straight losses. Stuck on 18 wins. RPI falling. .500 in conference. 6 games to go.
In real danger of blowing it entirely.
Thoughts?

At this rate I am not sure they get in. Definitely need to win Georgetown, creighton, St. John's and DePaul game to get to 22 wins. That should get them in but no room for error unless they can beat Xavier or seton hall. 22 regular season wins should get them in.

If we go 3-3 and 1-1 at BET that give us 22 wins. We probably sneak in with the that, and one of those wins has to be at St. John's, I believe a loss there will ruin our RPI.
Sucks all the equity the team built in December and early to mid January has been used up. Mostly by the DePaul debacle.

This is getting scary at this point. I thought they would be over 20 wins by now.

Its going to have to be a favorable draw for the Friars to win a game in the big east tourney at this point.

At this point we could lose to anyone in the Big East with the way we have played.

fifty/fifty that we see them in the NIT. what a shame to see this season degenerate like this. to have two great players at one time is something we may never see again here. bentil is on track to go down as one of the all time special players at pc. unfortunately, we are watching kris regress at a very rapid pace, a true turnover machine. unless he finds a consistent shot somewhere, he is not going to reach his pro potential. hoping that he can turn the corner and head back in the direction he was once going.

Can they finish 9-9? Yeah, but the 9th loss will be when we hand St. John's it's only league win of the season. One and done in the BET. NIT. Hope I'm wrong, but I see a total free fall collapse in progress at the moment.

If this epic collapse continues to fruition, we will have a much bigger problem then not making the ncaa's. The national media is just starting to get on to the story of what could be the worst collapse in the history of college basketball. The articles would be devastating to a Program with two superstars and a coach supposedly on top of the world until being bounced from top 11 rankings twice and then completely out of the rankings and the Dance.
As for Cooley, should the present death spiral continue, you can expect him to be characterized as unable to surround his stars with even average players and then you will read the word that nobody ever wants to hear their coach described with.... CHOKE
Well we won't have to worry about him being distracted as Head Coach of the Junior Olympic team.
If you think recruiting has dried up nowadays, well we better start winning or we can expect a total bottoming-out for a long time. That CHOKE term is a death knell in sports IMO.
OK so let's beat the Hoyas and hope Cooley and his players find a way to Dance because we will own Cooley for a long long long time and we sure don't want him tainted in any way by the national press. One and Done is a lofty NCAA goal in my view right now...imagine 4 weeks ago the sky was the limit.

Bighead had UVA at #4 one year and they didn't get in....
..I still think we get in. Somehow. I was also 100% certain we would win last night....

The PTB see Dunn's #5 rating and will do everything they can to get him in the dance, while holding their nose for the team. With more loses to come I'd say winning the final three... a must. No more cold at home crap.

I'm stunned we're 2-4 at home. Stunned. Unbelievable that we can't win home games. I'm so upset with the team at the moment I've mentally checked out. I think they still have a strong case to make it but they have no more margin for error at all. Got to get 22 wins as mentioned and even then we won't be assured of anything. Hard to beleive when only a week or so ago we were 11th ranked and in great shape after a good win at Georgetown.

While Checked-Out dmac, could you please continue to update the attendance thread?
All those wonderful sellout and near sellout crowds enduring snow, sleet, cold and Harry to cheer on the Friars to a #2 seed at one time.
All, including students, heeding the siren call of Cooley to come to the Dunk and lift us to victory.
Now they file in hoping for the best but expecting to lose. What a tragic waste of human assets.
Also a tragic waste of Fr Shanley's money...all those coaching clinics he sends staff to and still no answer for the 1-3-1
Dial 911 and ask for Bob Walsh

we finish 10-8 with a first round BET loss and we will have given the committee every reason in the world not to take us. our rpi will be in the high 40s... fortunately the bubble gets worse every year. unfortunately we don't pass the eye test most nights.
