This game is the battle of the Rookes! Father/son rivalry night will be a hot one in cold Wisconsin.
Just when the Friars approach the precipice of mediocrity, they find themselves where they need to be...on the road. But here? North of Kenosha? On the western shores of mighty Lake Michigan? Isn't this bowling night at JB's on 41 in Brewtown?
Marquette's lineup down low is imposing...they have handled us previously this season...and the Bradley Center has proven to be a house of horrors in years past, replete with bats, beat downs and a nasty, puffy, bald troll with a Bible in one hand, a razor-sharp sickle in the other, cheap shoes with shiny buckles, and loud polyester ties...the troll has taken his horrors to Tobacco Road and has been replaced with a fiery upstart, eager to take his broom and sweep the Friars away to the terrifying land of the bubble....
But I like our team tonight...a bit desperate...more than a bit ornery (CwO approved)...in dire need of a conference win to regain their swagger...
I'll take the Friars in an ugly, frustrating, hair pulling, dire road win tonight. We WILL rebound the ball tonight...the RIGHT people WILL take the three-pointers...and enough shots WILL fall...
We win this game on the glass and at the charity stripe, with a little schlemiel and a lot of schlimazel.

Starting lineup predictions?

I think the biggest factor is if Bentil or Ellenson can get their opposite in foul trouble. Both play inside and outside and attempt to back their man down inside. MQ has the advantage in that Fischer is a 2nd big but I think he had foul trouble the first meeting. I think we may see Lindsey start and Cartwright come in off the bench. I would assume we play a lot of zone due to the size problem.

I think we may see Lindsey start and Cartwright come in off the bench....not saying you're wrong but why? He's been brutal. If anything I'd see fazekas starting but I'd be surprised if it's not the usual with bentil replacing Lindsey from the nova game. Pretty eff'd up that it's Feb 10th and we don't have a rotation down.

I believe the Friars will come in desparate and with revenge in their hearts [like Nova did last Sat at the Dunk]. So long as Ben is healthy enough to play and contribute, the Friars will win by making free throws and enough threes [Zeke and Jalen being keys here] to loosen up the 1-3-1 and give Dunn and Ben some space. Marquette turns the ball over a lot.Friars will press some ---so Drew and Kyron will get minutes as well. My starters would be Dunn,Bentil, Bullock, Kyron and Zeke.

Lindsey because I am assuming Bentil is still not 100% and they will need help on the boards as well as movement in the zone. I think Lindsey does rebound pretty well out of the zone. I would always want Fazekas on the offensive end but he really struggled defensively against DePaul where he was stuck trying to cover wing guards. Marquette also seems to play a bunch of quick small forwards outside of Wilson.

71, agree. PC71, Lindsey starting over Fazekas in the lineup more likely, see '71s assessment.

I guess we're watching a different Lindsey. Had a conversation with someone on Fortune turning it on about now as a soph so I hope you're right. I'm just not seeing it based on the last year and half. Lindsey's m2m ain't been great either.

He rebounds, he has putbacks, he Can ( not often) hit his shot, and not sure what you are not seeing about Fazekas being a step slower to every rebound than Lindsey.

I think Lindsey is an okay rebounder, but nothing special at all. Shows our desperation. I don't think Lindsey is special at anything to be honest. Okay rebounder, okay defender, often a bad shooter sometimes an okay shooter. Really bad ball handler.
Sorry if that was mean...
I do hope he improves. Seems like a good kid.

when are these put backs? He's taken 10 2 point shots in 10 BE games. Assume put backs would be close to the basket...he's taken 7 FTs. He's averaging a whopping 1 rebound more per game than fazekas in 6 more mpg in BE play and cooley benched his ass at gtown b/c they were too tough.
Big boy pants are needed today.

Walk. They are the present choices Cooley has. Them and Jr. and the remaining bench. One didn't defend, pull him, His AA disd't get back on defense he pulled him. Very thin.
To my eye Lindsey quicker to the ball on rebounds. Bullock asked to do too much as is Dunn and Cartwright. Only Bentil seems impervious and a complete player on this team. If he cannot rebound tonight because of the ankle injury you'll need Cartwright, Dunn, Lindsey and JR get to rebounds.
Also seems Fazekas reluctant to let it fly sometimes. Lindsey usually will get it off (even if it hit the side of the backboard at times). I don't count the teams airballs of which many have contributed.
Look I have a hard time with flights of stairs and extended walks. These conditioned athletes are asked to do amazing things running the floor, getting back on defense, then guarding their man or switching to help defense, then rebound and start the running the floor again, only to rebound or get back on defense... repeat until a TV time out....
If this thin lineup wears down for even a moment it can be exploited. It a hard thing to run "40 minutes of hell " style of ball with little room for a breather.
usyou with a sound performance, to a needed road win tonight.

1. If Bentil isn't 100 percent, it doesn't matter who starts. We ain't winning. 2. If Bentil is 100 percent, I want to see as little Lindsey as possible.

I would start Zeke since I believe he ,based on his recent on court performance, gives us the best chance to try to break the 1-3-1 zone. However---no matter who strats,I believe that Zeke will be an important player tonight. Cooley will need both Jalen and Zeke to play well to maximize the chances of a win.

At this point I'm not even worried about games we shouldn't win (like tonight). I'm more concerned with the ones we should take esp. the final three of the season.
