1.Looking forward to reports from today's Elite Camp..Hopefully,some positive news will come out if it.
2. I am looking forward to watching our Friars this season. With All American point guard Kris Dunn leading the charge,PC will be better than many (including many PC fans) are predicting.
3.yes.I was upset when Chukwu left.He had potential to be very good before his college career ended. But after seeing him do too little too often last year, including against the Dayton little team,I think the impact of his loss in 2015-2016 is exaggerated by many.If having him made PC an NCAA lock, not having him does not make this club an also ran.
4.PC will play a different style this year. With Dunn running the show,I see more pressing and running.Yhree point shooting should be better.Dunn has improved.Zeke,Council and Jalen are said to be shooting the three ball very well.Bullock could be the wild card.Ladt Summer he was their best player in Italy. He was stuffing the stat sheet.Just have to hope he comes back fully healthy and not too rusty. He could be the second best player on the team.
5.People say the college game is a guards game. After being without enough guards who can handle and score, this year's club might have as much potential to be really good in the backcourt as any time in years.Much of it is unproven at the major college level.Starting with the best point guard in the land certainly helps.Cartwright has shown he can play at this level. Now we shall see what Council(I am hearing he is "real,") Chambers and Edwards can do.
6.After what Cooley and Staff accomplished the last couple of years,I would not discount what they will be able to accomplish in2015-2016 with arguably more talent and depth than either of those clubs.
7.I am looking for a breakout season from Lindsey. His season and confidence were derailed a bit last year due to the mono and some injury issues. But,he has shown what he can do when healthy and confident.Look at the Florida State game if you need a reminder. He also played as well as any Friar in Columbus.
8.We are all looking for some positive recruiting news. The staff is high on Jackson. He has decent size, can play multiple positions (we are in a much more position less basketball world today anyway---look at the ChampionGolden State Warriors for proof of that),can shoot defend and handle the rock.If they like him,I like him. This staff is great at talent evaluation.Look at Gabriel.Unfortunately,he blew up too early for our Friars.I am confident that they will get a quality guard and quality big for the Fall of 2016.for our physical and mental health, hopefully they will get those commitments earlier rather than later.
9.Really liked the pictures of Coaches Cooley,Gillen and Welsh.
GO FRIARS!

Chukwu was about the 10th on the list of reasons we lost to Dayton....and you'd be singing an entirely different tune with him on the roster.
Bullock has gone from your core three to a wildcard?
What are the predictions? I've seen very few. Expect to be around 5th which could prove dicey selection Sunday if the selection committee is sick of the new versions tourney performance.

I have seen predictions as low as 8.I see top 4 or 5 and a bubble team. But,Cooley has been underestimated each of his PC years. 3.Bullock will be part of the Core 4 of Dunn,Lindsey,Bentil and Rajay,if healthy and not too rusty.Who do you believe are the main cogs of the Club?

I will add a couple of thoughts:
1. Bullock seemed to come in unheralded. But from all reports was outstanding in Italy. But has sat for 2 years. I agree he is a wildcard. 2. I think this staff does an excellent job in player development. Unfortunately they have lost too many players to transfer. But hopefully we will see some solid improvement in the 3 prime sophmores while the freshmen slowly develop.
3. So far Cooley has had teams lacking in depth but they have been successful. They have an elite player and hopefully he will make everyone around him better as well. 4. I agree with the 4-6th place finish and a bubble team. If EC gets a 3rd straight NCAA bid that is a majoe step up from when he arrived.

1) If the reports on councils shooting and Lindsey's ball handling are accurate, I actaully think chukwu leaving cost us a top 2 finish. If they're not accurate, I still think we finish top 4 with him. He was much better than I anticipated from some of his HS games. 2) Dunn...probably Bentil...then ?? chukwu would have been next imo. There are too many question marks on everyone else. I could just as easily see Lindsey in the 10-12ppg range to 8-10 mpg...same goes for bullock.... As for eyeing talent. We did bring in jr. Must have been a hungover coach watching that workout.

'71...nice read. Without meaning to slight the remaining coaches, the loss of Coach Simon really concerns me. He played such a critical role at practice, on the bench during games, and on the recruiting trails. I suppose I could be overstating the importance of an assistant coach but he did seem to be a level-headed, calming influence on Coach Cooley and the players during games. Time will tell.

NO DOUBT IN MY EYES THAT SIMON WAS THE MOST VALUABLE ASSISTANT ON COLLEY'S STAFF ALL THE WAY AROUND DURING COOLEY'S PC TIME.HAVE TO HOPE THAT BATTLE IS AT LEAST AS GOOD.I HAVE A BELIEF HE IS.PEOPLE AT WAKE LOVED HIM.Time will tell.

I see a huge contradiction of logic here my good friend. If you look at Lindsey's FSU game for hope then you need to do the same with Chukwu's Marquette Butler game. Given a choice, I'd MUCH rather have PC coming off his freshman year than JL coming off his. In all due respect, I think you're seeing what we hope, not what is necessarily the reality of the situation.

In all due respect, I think you're seeing what we hope, not what is necessarily the reality of the situation. All a matter of opinion my friend. Chukwu would have been a force if he stayed a friar for four years. But,I do not believe he would have been that on both ends this upcoming season. His performance in the last game vs. Dayton was pitiful.Yes ,I wish he had stayed and developed as we would hope. One cannot teach seven feet. All I am trying to say is that If PC was an NCAA lock with him, then it should be an NCAA bubble team or better without him. Lindsey got hurt in after shooting the eyes out vs. the Seminoles.I was in the building and he was on fire. However, the confidence and shooting went down when he hurt his ankle and then later his hand .But he played better later, including vs. Dayton.I see him having a breakout season. Although I was not comparing Jalen to Pascal in my above post, you are.Since you have brought the subject up,I will express my opinion that Lindsey had a better frosh season than Chukwu. In any event, time to move on from Chukwu. He will no longer be coming through that Friar door.

71 - go back and look at Lindsey's game logs. He had the worst season of all the frosh and is the biggest question mark of the returning three. This includes paschal. Doesn't mean he can't "break out" but I don't think anyone would have been surprised if he was the frosh transfer.

Whether it's grounds for classifying his future performances as "break out" or not, I suspect that with sustained, good health (last year he lost time due to Mono in the preseason; a sprained ankle in November, and I believe a subsequent injury to his hand) not to mention, a season under his belt, we can and should expect more of Jalen. My gut tells me that we'll see a much more confident and improved player (although not at the torrid clip that he was shooting at during the FSU game, as that would be an unfair expectation for any one of us to make).

Pasqual would have been a 11/8/4 guy in 25 minutes for us this year. I really believe that. That's hard to project as less impactful than whatever Jalen can and will give us. He's much closer to the kid we saw against Marquette than the kid we saw against Dayton, which made all our players look bad that night.

That's not out of reason, particularly if our roster ends up having the outside shooting capabilities that would effectively, space defenses - which would have made it easier for Pasqual to establish himself on the offensive end.

11/8/4 is a bigtime stretch for this coming season. Maybe in his 3rd year...
I think the kid could be an NBA player some day, but that is crazy talk.

Exactly Rock.
Not fair to single out Chukwu as the offending Friar in the Dayton game.
pc1971 was in attendance and from his first hand reports wrote of the frenzied atmosphere to add to Dayton's advantage and to factor into Providence's downfall
