Am I the only one that thinks that maybe we've crossed the line with Dunn into the over-rated category? 4th best player, guy you want to take THEE shot? I dunno, boys. I agree. I love what Dunn brings to the table but until and unless he carries this program into a couple NCAA wins (or even one would be nice) I think it's too much. A top 10 player especially a PG carries his team when it matters, so we'll see if he earns it.

I'm having a hard time thinking of very many players in college who are better than Dunn myself, especially at the point guard position. I can't understand how anyone thinks he is overrated. Fred Van Fleet is consdered by many to be one of the best in the game and I don't think he comes close to Dunn.

He's a great player. He's one of the best players to play for us. We have such a great tradition of quality guards, and he's among the very best. But if he turns the ball over at the same rate as he did last year, that is something you really cannot overlook. JMO, but that is a significant negative on his game. I fully expect improvement in that area in his final year playing college ball. I have no idea if he will someday be "the next great NBA point guard". I do think he has that potential. Improve his shooting, take better care of the ball, hone his already considerable defensive abilities, who knows, could be national player of the year. collegebasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/08/03/fixing-his-flaws-how-kris-dunn-has-attacked-the-two-weaknesses-in-his-game/"The other reason that Dunn decided to come back to school is that he not only wants to be on an NBA roster when he arrives in the league, he wants to be an impact player, an important piece wherever he ends up, not just a prospect that begins his career as nothing more than a name on a roster leading cheers from the end of the bench. “Right now, I may be an NBA talent, as you say, and for myself I can see that. But for me, I want to be ready when I come in,” Dunn said. And for Dunn to be “ready” when he does get to the next level, there are two glaring holes in his game that he needs to fix: he needs to become a more consistent jump-shooter, particularly from three-point range, and he needs to do something about all those turnovers."........ ........"The issue for voters was Dunn’s efficiency. Or, frankly, lack thereof. He averaged 4.2 turnovers per game, finishing the year with an assist-to-turnover ratio of just 1.85-to-1 despite finishing second in the nation in assists. His offensive rating, per KenPom, was 103.0, a number that fell to 96.5 against top 50 competition. By comparison, 2015 NBCSports.com Player of the Year Frank Kaminsky’s offensive rating was 126.2 while D’Angelo Russell’s was 113.6. According to Synergy, Dunn averaged 0.820 points-per-possession — good for the 42nd percentile — overall and just 0.759 PPP in a half court setting — the 34th percentile. To put it simply, Dunn did not always make the most of his opportunities when he had the ball in his hands. And it makes Dunn one of the most intriguing prospects in college basketball in 2015-16. He’s got the physical tools and skill-set to be a terrific point guard in the NBA for years, yet the flaws in his game are as obvious as the sky is blue."

Who said he is overrated? Rock by questioning whether he'd have dunn take the gw shot? That's been hentons dept for the last 4 years. Fair question imo.
Most talented ever at pc? Seriously?

I do not think of him as "over-rated" at all yet IMO, he has work to do after just one full season as a Friar. Talent/potential wise he already is an all time Friar yet body of work wise still needs to be shown...
charl is correct citing "he needs to fix: he needs to become a more consistent jump-shooter, particularly from three-point range, and he needs to do something about all those turnovers."....
Concern from this Friar fan is that he may try to do too much and force his game - this could be true given the unproven play of his surrounding team and the big hole departure of Henton. If the untested can step up and actually play with him at his speed then he and we will have something to work with and success should follow. And of course if other teams double up because they see that they can, (see above), then we may well have frustrating Dunn-related issues.
As it is we basically have a lot of questions and Dunn's abilities are not in question here; the question is how well will he be able to display those talents without forcing it or dare I say holding back....

If the new guys are the shooters that we expect and hear that they are, it will be really hard to double team Dunn. He just has to let the game come to him. I think Bentil and Cartwright are up for the challenge since they went through the wars last year.

Most talented ever at a PC. Well, that's a tough one. I think you have to go back away. Among guards? Hmm. There's Jimmy Walker and Lenny Wilkins possibly. Not guards alone? Well, there's Marvin Barnes. Dunn is a great player. I think when he gets to the pros, I'll be better able to judge and maybe actually answer such a question. Right now, I believe he has Walker and Barnes to contend with if the question is "is he our best player ever".

Like I said, I don't like comparing players from different eras, but I believe Dunn will be the most talented player to ever come through PC after this coming year.
The athleticism in today's game is on a different universe compared to when Wikens, Walker, Ernie, and Barnes played. Let Dunn play against the competition those guys played and he'd average a triple double and be able to do whatever he wants when he wants.
I think Dunn could be an NBA all star some day if he stays healthy.

Thats true it is a different game atheletically now. It's even different from 20 years ago. Dunn has the tools to be a NBA all star definitely if he keeps working. His game grew a lot last year by just staying healthy and playing. He is probably going into this year on another level after being a stadout at the Nike Camp and playing and holding his own with pros.
