I think 88 raises good points
one other thing...draftexpress is not infallible
a ten mill ins policy is nice but probably less than the sneaker contract for a top pick, no?

COMMENTARY
Disappointment will worsen if Dunn leaves
JIM DONALDSON
COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Friars were poised to take a step forward. Instead, they stumbled and fell flat on their face. Playing in front of a large and loud crowd that was cheering for the Dayton Flyers on Friday night, the Friars lost their poise, and lost the game as well, 66-53. It was the second straight NCAA Tournament appearance for the Friars, the first time that had happened in 25 years. Last year, after a stunning upset win in the Big East Tournament, the Friars were nipped by North Carolina in the NCAA Tournament, 79-77. This year, they were back in the Big Dance, ready to take the next step — get their first NCAA Tournament win since 1997.
Didn’t happen.
Not even close.
Unlike last year, when the Friars got a great game from their standout senior guard, Bryce Cotton, who was spectacular in scoring 36 points against the Tar Heels, PC’s best players couldn’t have played worse against the Flyers.
Senior forward LaDontae Henton took 26 shots, many of them forced, and sank only seven. Star guard Kris Dunn, being touted as a possible first-round pick in the upcoming NBA Draft if he decides to turn pro, looked more like an AAU player than an NBA player, making just 4 of 13 shots while committing seven turnovers. Three times, he drove to the hoop and was emphatically stuffed by Dayton defenders.
So, in a season when many felt they could get to the Sweet 16, the Friars suffered a bitter defeat.
It was their third loss in their last four games. Butler beat them on Senior Night in The Dunk in the final game of the regular season.
Villanova was fortunate to beat them in the semifinals of the Big East Tournament. Then the Flyers brought an unceremonious end to PC’s season.
So, where do the Friars go from here?
Not up, if Dunn opts for the NBA.
He’s not really ready — that was obvious on Friday night — but that doesn’t matter to pro scouts, who are intrigued by his potential.
If Dunn returns to play the point for Providence, he could be an All-American, and the Friars could get to the NCAA Tournament for a third straight time — the first time since Dave Gavitt’s teams made three consecutive appearances from 1972-74, getting to the Final Four in ’73, with Marvin Barnes and Ernie DiGregorio.
They might even win a game in the tourney.
If Dunn doesn’t come back — and he has yet to discuss his future plans publicly — then it will be tougher for the Friars to progress, harder to take that step forward that they found disappointingly difficult against Dayton.
It certainly didn’t help the Friars that the Flyers were, in reality, playing a home game in supposedly neutral Columbus, which is just 71 miles from Dayton. Nor that, because of television’s lust for ratings, and the NCAA’s greed for TV money, the game didn’t tipoff until 10:54 p.m. and the second half didn’t start until after midnight.
But if anyone should have been tired, it was the Flyers, who were playing their fifth game in eight nights. An Elite Eight team a year ago, Dayton now has a very good chance of advancing to the Sweet 16 since it’ll be playing another “home game” on Sunday against Oklahoma.
A Catholic school, like Providence College, with an undergraduate enrollment of about 8,000, compared to PC’s approximately 3,800, Dayton has shown it can win consistently in the NCAA Tournament.
The PC program was supposed to take that step forward on Friday night.
Instead, the Friars fell flat on their face.

I think the memory of his shoulder injury will loom large. His heart will want to stay, but his family will see too much at stake and ultimately he will leave. Hope I'm wrong.

After AC's 40 against Marq in a blowout, it was the rest of the friars who stepped up in that tourney....AC was regarded as the best player in the conf for almost two years and competed on national teams over the summers....Shamgod was the player who benefited (to his detriment) from the tourney run.... yeah and that 36(Tourney high that year) in an UPSET win did nothing right walk?......sometimes u come across as a complete joke also might want to check boxscores, pretty sure(not positive) AC was pretty solid in Tourney with the exception of Zona loss where he was taken out of game by refs Sham went from a likely undrafted prospect to the 50th pick I believe? So I don't understand your logic with the other guy going in the lottery and signing a 45 million deal 2 years later... he probably would have went in the 20's before that run.....don't forget he was also HUGH in BET that year and was the main reason we even made the Tourney in 97....he put us on his back against WVU if i recall right

I think the memory of his shoulder injury will loom large. His heart will want to stay, but his family will see too much at stake and ultimately he will leave. Hope I'm wrong. This is my feeling too. As long as he is pegged mid-first round. Just to much risk being pegged a late first rounder and slipping into 30's like Ledo did even though he was fortunate enough to make decent some money. I think if his career ended in that Nova game he was a 1st round lock(draft express had him at #22 after Nova game). Now I feel he has a chance of falling to round two. His inconsistencies glowed over the two games. One game he looked like the best PG in the nation and the next a talented but very raw underclassmen. One thing i know for sure.....is that he will completely dominate the college ranks next year He was literally improving like 10% a week since December. Imagine 8 more months to fine tune jumper, tighten handle, gain another 7-8 lbs of muscle? I think if he plays next year future Friar discussions on greatest single seasons ever will include Walker, Ernie, Barnes, Murdock, and yup....Kris Dunn

pawtuckettimes.com/node/11549If you think NBA scouts or front office types are suddenly sour on Kris Dunn just because the final image of him is a 4-for-13 shooting performance with seven turnovers sprinkled in against Dayton, think again. “If they had moved on, the kid was only going to get more hype. With a national audience, that changes a lot of stuff,” said an NBA scout. “That was cut short so know we’ll see once the dust settles.” On the mock draft pieced together by draftexpress.com, Dunn is listed as the potential 15th overall player chosen. Over at nbadraft.net, the website has Dunn going No. 22 to the San Antonio Spurs

Saw Ryan Gomes on Sunday at Mohegan while covering the CT HS basketball championships...he says he plans to speak to Kris.
Also spoke with a few local writers who covered Kris since his HS days at New London High...they all pretty much said the same thing: Kris is a lock for a first round pick...BUT he is going lower than people think.
Kris' mindset has changed over the past month and a half according to some people I have spoken too. And he is very much at ease with where his game is and his decision has pretty much made. He is still "thinking" but it's pretty much mind made up.
Shammgod has been in his ear. LaFleur too. Dunn's father is on board with what he decides to do. His father had entered this season on less than the best terms with Cooley following 2 shoulder surgeries -thought the way they handled him when he reinjured the shoulder was wrong.
Until we hear it from Dunn out loud it's all rumors and sources without names...my gut and everyone else's guy is all each of us can go on.

If you are Dunn, who is finishing on the other end next year that gives you confidence that he can improve his draft stock? For the record, I think he does improve his draft stock by staying but I think this will be one of the questions in his head. Also, even with Dunn, is this an NCAA team next year? The guys he came to PC with are all leaving this year. I think that factors in as well. Can't think like that.....and I'm pretty sure Kris and his dad already know this There will be scorers, I think Bullock & Bentil will both be double digit guys. Pascal will have a few more moves and a little more beef. Jalen and KC will each make nice little strides and I expect both to come back much more confident next season. Fazekes and Council should also help keep the floor spread. don't forget.....Kris may not get offended if Ed says Kris I may need you to average around 16-17 shots this year if we need the scoring. I love the fact that our star and leading scorer will be a pass first PG. I think we will be a much better shooting/passing team next year and better in the halfcourt as long as Dunn stays.

The jury is still out on next year. This team may have 2 or 3 more players not on the roster by the start of next season. Personally as much as I would like to see Dunn back I think he has to go if he is viewed as a first round pick. The injuries are probably a factor in his mind. I'm preparing my mind that he won't be here next year and if he is then it's all gravy.

Things are good now but the animosity was evident. It's just him caring about his son.
I'm careful. I know what I'm saying. I know who I've talked to.

Last year, if I recall, Cotton was told he was a first-round pick only to slip to the second round. Oftentimes new players announce that weren't considered before. European players suddenly are in the conversation. Things change.
Be careful Kris, things aren't always as they appear.
Shooting and dribbling/turnovers need to be improved. Stay another year and take the questions out of the equation.
P.S. friarbroadcaster, we've had this discussion before. There are times when you come across full of yourself. Try to be more humble.
