Jeff Goodman Ben Howland has reached a verbal agreement to become the Mississippi State coach, sources told ESPN. He is en route to Starkville now. 11:42 AM - 23 Mar 2015
Gary Parrish @garyparrishcbs 16m16 minutes ago I’m told no other candidate was seriously considered by Miss State. Scott Stricklin had this basically done before he fired Rick Ray.
Jeff Goodman @goodmanespn 33m33 minutes ago Ben Howland likely to hire Korey McCray -- who has strong Atlanta ties. Howland hired McCray at UCLA.

It will be interesting to see if ole Ben's style of play will translate to good ole southern studs.
Depaul can and hopefully will do better.

Anyone know if the Redmen are still talking to Lavin about an extension? Honestly I think they would be wise to extend him.....guy did a phenomenal job this year and he gets talent and it's just a matter of time before he actually has more than 50% of that talent in uniform. Don't forget, they were bottom feeders for about a good 7-8 years before he arrived.

5 yrs: 2 NIT and 2 NCAA and might be the same as Cooley after next year
Both guys inherited program's in the gutter
Both guys lost big time players to the nba...ie Ricky Ledo Mo Harkless/Jakar Sampson
St John's could do a lot worse
