Kinda peculiar that two Big East teams, Butler and Georgetown, are now facing each other in an "OOC" game.

Kinda peculiar that two Big East teams, Butler and Georgetown, are now facing each other in an "OOC" game. Aren't these tourneys scheduled way in advance?

a couple of tidbits by rothstein at cbs.com
You know what's amazing about Villanova? The Wildcats are 5-0 and own victories against VCU and Michigan and their starting backcourt -- Ryan Arcidiacono and Darrun Hilliard -- is a combined 9 for 45 from 3-point range. What's going to happen when these guys start making shots? That's bad news for any club that's on this team's schedule.
Providence at Kentucky (Sunday, 2 p.m. ET): Any time the Wildcats play is must-see TV, and the Friars will be the best team Kentucky has faced this season, other than Kansas. Look for Ed Cooley to play LaDontae Henton (23.4 points, 5.8 rebounds) and freshman Ben Bentil together for long stretches up front in this game in an effort to bring the Wildcats' frontcourt away from the basket on defen

The BIG EAST's record against outside competition improved to 50-11 after a 3-0 Tuesday, December 2, 2014. No. 10/9 Villanova hops on a bus to play at La Salle. CBS Sports Network will televise the game at 8:30 p.m. ET. The 6-0 Wildcats have a pair of Philadelphia Big 5 contests this week. Saint Joseph's visits The Pavilion on Saturday. Butler, ranked 23rd in this week's AP poll, travels to Indiana State. The Bulldogs return to action after posting a 2-1 record in the Battle4Atlantis which vaulted them into the national rankings. Creighton plays at Tulsa on ESPN3 at 8 p.m. The 6-1 Bluejays, who already have had five different leading scorers this season, stay in their road jerseys on Sunday when they play at Nebraska. www.bigeast.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/120314aab.html

If the BE keeps this up will help tremendously come tourney time to get 5 or 6 in as opposed to nearly 3 that turned into 4 last year with our win at MSG being required to punch our ticket.
Still believe we need to expand the league to at least 12 sooner rather than later lest we face the prospect of the BE needing to be near peferct OOC every year, which is unrealistic. The stellar OOC record will help when the in conference home and homes begin and most of the league winds up .500 in conference in a logjam in the middle which will be perceived and publicized as 1 or 2 power teams at the top (Nova and Creighton last year for example) and then a bunch of mediocrity. Better or worse, you need a top heavy league with plenty of dregs to feed off of to get multiple bids most years unless you have a run like we've had so far OOC.

Pretty darn good analysis Dmac...unfortunately, given the espn propaganda machine, our league has little margin for error come selection time. The sooner we get some of our teams making runs in the tourney, the better off we will be...not unlike the BE of the 80s.
