wow I'm surprised that our RPI is only #70
weird thing is both FSU(71) and ND(150)have lower RPI's than Yale(69) at this point

I find RPI to be pretty much useless at least until we get into the conference schedule.

Maybe not jumping off bridges as 71 reminds but we were saying "we have issues and need answers"...and we did as Cooley gave everyone a taste shuffling guys in and out; in and out- Harris and Henton carried us through that opening jitterbug as Kris Dunn struggled amidst the two PG roll-out and we all moaned - "Where is the scoring going to come from..."
I think we now know it will often come from our D, both trapping and interior D, as in DUNN D and the flow...but with our size and snappy ball movement we are developing with each game.
Think that forward ball movement will be how we go right at the not-to-be-overlooked solid YALE. Hit them like we hit FSU...

Friar fans from Maine to California defy their KORE leader and refuse to take a deep breath after ND squeaker and 2 injuries.
Leader suggests that " A Bridge Too Far"...is just down the road to Newport as some BullDogs wait in the weeds to ruin the party Friday.

LOL
From the ridiculous to the sublime
The performance by Buckets was the epitome of a guy putting his team on his back.
Man that was something

www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/eye-on-college-basketball/24856825/poll-attacks-dropping-providence-for-losing-at-kentucky-is-wrongEXCERPT Coaches poll: VCU, UCLA and Providence all dropped from the coaches poll this week. Only two of those things make sense. VCU lost to ODU. So, yeah, the Rams should've dropped out. And UCLA has no quality wins to offset its two losses. So, yeah, I'm cool with UCLA dropping out, too. But Providence? What happened to Providence this week happens often, and it drives me nuts every single time. Here's the deal: Providence beat Notre Dame on Nov. 23 to improve to 5-0, at which point the Friars received enough votes to be ranked 25th in the coaches poll released last Monday. Then Providence beat Yale last Friday to move its record to 6-0. Then Providence lost to top-ranked Kentucky on Sunday, and now the Friars are unranked. In other words, Providence was booted for losing to the nation's No. 1 team. Does that make any sense? A team ranked 25th shouldn't be dropped for doing nothing more than losing a road game to the country's best team, and don't tell me the Friars were dropped because they lost by 20 points because they were supposed to lose by 20 points. They were 20-point underdogs at Rupp Arena, which means they performed as they were projected to perform. Nothing embarrassing about it. Bottom line, what the coaches did here isn't punish a team for losing. They punished a team for scheduling an impossible game. And that, I think, sends a pretty bad message. Beyond that, I have no idea why Memphis is still getting votes with no good wins and two blowout losses. And I can't begin to guess how Stanford got votes less than 24 hours after losing to DePaul because I honestly thought it was against the rules to rank a team less than 24 hours after a loss to DePaul. Isn't that a rule? If not, it probably should be a rule.

I thing Parish makes a great point on both the Friars and Butler.

Providence also received 3 extra points in the coaches poll this week. They fell out, but received more points/votes. So they didn't really fall as far as they might. Lose by 20 and gain votes says at least some coaches saw the game and know we belong. I think the voters who like PC in week 3 pretty much still liked them in week 4. If they had taken Kentucky to the buzzer or overtime, they would likely have still more votes, enough to be ranked. We are in a very good position if we can run the table through Creighton. Even if we lose to BC, if we beat Miami and Creighton in successive games, given the amount of respect still there now, we'll be in the top 20. But we have to beat the teams we are supposed to beat until then. Even in the AP poll, they only fell one to 29th. With the same number of points, 56, as week 3. Which also is a good position if they just keep winning they will make the AP top 25 soon enough. You would never see a result like this if voters didn't think Ky. was more or less a D League team vs. the rest of the college world. So you can lose to them by 20 and gain votes. We impressed somebody. Polls are funny. I cut out and collected every one in the 50's-thru 70's, and had it so I could tell you how everyone would land each week. When you lose is worse when teams below you win, less harmful when they lose too. Sometimes it makes no sense at all. I was surprised we stayed that high. And pleased, because we have the opportunity now to really move up the polls.

Glad to be here, Friar fan since the days of Lenny Wilkins, and I am really looking forward to seeing where Ed Cooley takes our program. Going to be a great year, I believe!

Miami Hurricanes #15 in polls. Great job being done by fellow 71er Jimmy Larranaga. Hope they keep moving up in the polls until the Friars beat them in Brooklyn.
