Got to love kids, and their passion for filming/posting just about everything to social media sites! Prior to the advent of mobile/social technologies, one would wake up after a night of indiscretions wondering "did I really do that?"...whereas now, some bystander with an almost instinctive need to tell the whole world, has documented it all for you! Authorities thrive on this stuff, as it tells enough of a story to expedite investigations, and hand out the punishments. Over the past several years, I can think of a couple of instances of this sort: 1. The annual "Kegs & Eggs" prelude (an off-campus event "hosted" by UAlbany students)to the St. Patrick's Day parade, spilled over into the streets where a couple of out of control students started trashing cars to the crowd's delight. In turn, others joined in on the bedlam...all of which was captured on videos and posted to the internet. Within 24 hours, the Albany Police posted pictures (taken from the video) of the culprits to a website - aiding in the identification and arrest of a number of students. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sehhwt-4At42. A bunch of kids decided to throw a party in the then, unoccupied home of Brian Holloway (former Patriot). Tweeting word of the party out to the World, a good portion of the Western Hemisphere's under-20 population arrived to party and trash the residence. Taking matters into his own hands, Holloway created a website where he posted pics of the intruders (taken from videos posted on social media sites), and had a good number of them ID'd within a day's time. www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7ccX0xEzowGiven a few hours to sober up, the "entertainment value - turned evidence" contained in this video has to have a few kids on edge. Those who were fighting and those who documented it all for the authorities have to be wondering if they'd do it all again if the circumstances presented themselves. Film and post on!
