When things are clicking you can see it in his game that he has next level stuff. The one major flaw offensively that I saw last year was that when he gets on a fast break he rushes and can be too aggressive going to the hoop. You can tell he's had it drilled in his head from coaching to work on this issue as sometimes he'll half hold up and wind up traveling or throwing the ball away as he's unsure of himself at the moment of a decision. On one too many occasion, I also saw him take it to the hoop with reckless abandon and either miss a contested shot or draw a charge when he had a wing he could have dished to for an easy layup.
However sometimes his aggressive nature paid off. In a transition situation, he'd get the ball and go right at the defense before they could setup to draw a foul or wind up with an easy 2, and he was one of just a few players on last year's squad that would do that when they needed it most. So it really comes down to executing if he decides to drive it in with limited turnovers/traveling/charging calls and knowing when to dish. I hope this year he can work on that part of his game and the Friars in general run more for easy buckets. Great kid I am hoping he takes it to the next level.

Harris is a solid young man and has been a plus pick up for PC and I do see an upside with him but do think he needs a much better effort/result this season if he takes that gambol to try to advance right away. My sense he that his game could use the two years he has of eligibility to develop. But maybe that is my own selfishness as a Friar? Not sure it is but still...
Think 'knowing when to dish' solves some of the other flaws you point out in your post. Harris has the goal to advance - no doubt - for him to do it after this season he will have to consistently show that he "knows when to dish'. ' '

Assuming for a moment that Tyler wants his next stop to be in the NBA, I believe that it would be in his best interests to not look ahead too fast. There is plenty of room for him to develop his body and game just yet. At this junction, an early exit (not using his 5th year of eligibility)by Tyler would most likely lead to his playing overseas (not that there's anything wrong with the paychecks abroad.

OK 82 but I do believe he has the tools to play in the NBA yet to jump early and land overseas would be a waste of that potential...
It is early on and maybe he does have a bust out season this year, m-a-y-b-e...but a sober evaluation at this point really does tell me he would benefit both in his game and in his body with playing two years more of college ball.
We will see but that has been my thinking on him for some time.

Don't forget that he will be a fifth year senior next year so he could transfer and be immediately eligible. If he has just an average year at PC and does not go pro I can see the Harris family hand picking a new school that would give him the best chance to showcase his abilities (in other words give him all the shots he wants).

Harris' biggest problem is lack of athleticsm. He can't guard 4s because of strength and he can't guard 3s because of speed. His length is a major plus, but when facing similar length last year, he was often exposed. The first SJU game was a prime example where Sampson just ate him alive.

Transfers (and Jucos as well) often take a jump up their 2nd year. Hopefully Tyler will gain from the good amount of playing time he received last year. But I also see where he is a real tweener and my guess is he has to be able to learn to defend the perimeter as that is where I think any NBA aspirations may be.

Harris could drive to the basket at will during the non-conference portion of the schedule, and I believe that created some bad habits. He found out that wouldn't always work against BE/high major competition.

Point taken with a decent chance of becoming reality - as such this is most likely his last year as a Friar. Whatever, we at least do have this season with Harris as a Friar...even with his noted limitations, to me he is a solid ball player with many skills. Yes he struggled at times last season but he also bailed us out many times as well.
Wherever he plays next, I still contend that extra year on a collegiate level would help his quest both with his physical maturity and working on his game skills.
