And everyone had picked Dual pre-season. Maybe Dual is just a year behind on the learning curve.
....gotta love friartown...

He went from mid-major recruit to this...nice find by Kim and the staff.

He’s the first Friar on all freshman team in 6 years . Watson 2018
It’s a lot easier to make now that the portal has allowed the league to get much older, but still a great accomplishment for Rich.

Good for him. Felt he was our most confident 3 point shooter as the season went on. Hopefully the rest of his game can develop.

My only concern with Barron is what is his postion? At 6'5 he's not a 2 guard because he doesn't handle the ball well enough. If you put him at small forward, he will need to become a better defender and rebounder. In an ideal situation, he's a come off the bench to loosen the defense up type guy, I would think.

He has improved as the season progressed. I would suppose that as the summer unfolds he will make improvements upon your concerns. At least I hope so, as he has a higher ceiling than any of us expected.

He reminds me of a cross between 6'4" Dylan Addae-Wuso of Seton Hall (formerly of St. John's) and 6'6" Pierre Brooks II(formerly of Mich. St.). They can do a little of both the 2 and 3. Plus they provide some bulk. Hope he continues to work on his game and his quickness improves. PIZZA,SODA,GRINDERS!!!

not sure he is known as Rich, Richard or Dicky, regardless, I like his fearlessness taking shots. he will always be a half step to a step behind the elite in athleticism guys, but he makes up for it with hoop smarts and a nice stroke.

Well, well, well. Look who made the list! I may not understand the metrics, but I do like what I see!

He went from standing flat footed and unready in first half of season to maybe the best frosh in the BE in short time. Impressive! I look forward to his continued growth and hopefully staying in a Friar uniform for four years.

I too look forward to watching Rich's game expand over time.
He's the type of player that would burn PC during our OOC schedule, with fans such as myself wondering "who is this guy, and where did he come from?".
This much I'm certain of - Barron would never have crossed TFG's radar screen as an interesting prospect coming out of HS. And the "Freshman are Gross" attitude would have robbed Rich of any opportunity to see the court as a frosh. Clearly, Kim and his staff have an eye for talent that fits within their system. As a freshman, Rich certainly made his mark, with time/opportunity to expand his game to higher levels.

Well said. With the new big guys it allows both Barron and Floyd to move back to their natural positions and potentially Hopkins to move to the three on occasion. Add Fernandez into the mix and there is tremendous flexibility in the lineup. I am already excited for the OOC to begin and see how the off season development went and to watch the rotation form. We know all too well how injuries hurt us in the past and the struggles we had as a result of thin and short handed rosters, now we are close to having a full compliment of BE players. Just a couple spots to fill, hopefully with a very good shooter., or two.
