St. John's struggling with N. Texas. Up 3 w/ 9 minutes left. Spread was only -5.5

Just tallied it up. So far the BE is 35-13. Not dominant. We need to, and likely will, run up the rest of our schedules at home mostly. Assuming most teams have approx 6 games left (some may have 7 or 8), if every team wins 5 (DePaul???) that puts us at 90 wins. The lowest end of where we might need to be for a 7 bid league. For context the ACC is first with like 7 losses (they have more teams too) and the Big12 is also less than 10 losses. We're ahead I think of the SEC, Pac12 and Big 10 by a hair. As long as BE hovers around the top 3 were in a good spot. www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/standings/_/group/4

I was at MSG yesterday to see the Indiana/UConn game...while I don't think Indiana is all that special this year, UConn is absolutely loaded. They easily handled Indiana and played without Castle...UConn shot the ball from outside quite poorly for most of the game...but it's their depth and intensity that stand out...this could have easily been a 30-point blowout if UConn had knocked down some wide open looks from outside...Hurley seemed much calmer during the game, but perhaps that's because his dad was sitting courtside...UConn's fan base has risen to new heights of arrogance, both inside MSG and on the train ride home.
In my opinion, UConn is a threat to go to the Final 4 yet again...

Gives us a target though. We know we can beat anyone in D1 if we play our best including UCONN.

It’s early but I’m pretty sure DePaul stinks a LOT

Agreed, Dex.
And DePaul can no longer point to the fact that fans have to drive all the way out to the Rosemont Horizon for home games. Wintrust Arena is right along the lake in the downtown area, and it’s a very nice facility.
If I recall correctly, DePaul is one of the larger schools in the BE too

Marquette beats #1 Kansas 73-59.
Baring a loss (with games against Purdue and Texas coming up), there’s a very good chance that the Golden Eagles will come into the AMP on December 19 ranked # 1.
Tyler Kolek (in lieu of Bynum) will always be Cooley’s greatest miss. Local kid who “Ed” didn’t recruit seriously if I’ve got the circumstances right (?).

It was Al Durham instead of Kolek, Bynum was already on the team for two years. Unless you are saying Cooley should have taken both, but I don’t know if either would have gone for that, they both wanted the ball in their hands

I thought Kolek was worse than a miss. There was never an offer extended, correct?

Somewhere in these threads when Tyler was leaving Mason I compared Kolek to a taller Gail Goodrich. Now I was not seriously saying he was nearly as good as one of the all-timers in Div.1. But I wanted to stress that 6'4 LH PG's were hard to find when they can pass, drive and shoot.
Yes it was a blunder but I don't necessarily think Kolek wanted to come here? I thought he might end up at BC and was surprised it turned out to be MU. I think Smart got very lucky. Do I think he figured he just committed a BE POY? No.
# Creighton and Nova pick up afternoon wins. Looks like Purdue will be very tough for MU to handle (right after KU).https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/scoreboard/BIGE/
