Many thanks for your concerns and accolades, dex (but somehow I'm reminded of Rosie Ruiz' path to victory in the 1980 Boston Marathon). It's all been a bit annoying, to say the least, but we're all annoyed with this frigging virus.

I’m on board with Dex, Weyinme - except for the idea take he would be declared this years winner if Pick’em was put on pause. Too small a sample in my mind
Now, if we could each be declared winners I may come around to the idea.
Note to self: get a haircut before going to get sized for a crown.

I believe my original thinking was simply to make it a tougher prediction. I think I may have started with the Providence high scorer being the 1st (and only) tiebreaker, but I remember years when the top scorer for Providence was often easy to predict, so we actually had a rather ineffective tiebreaker. At some point it was changed to the high scorer among either team to make it tougher. The other tiebreaker of total points in the Providence game was added, and then the sequence of the two tiebreakers was later switched, and at some point I eliminated OT points in the total points tiebreaker. The total points tiebreaker takes care of almost all ties and we seldom go to the high scorer tiebreaker, so we could make it just the Providence high scorer and not really lose much effectiveness. I find I'm often too lazy to check out the other team's top scorers as it is. A lot of the Pick'em history has been lost either when we switched host forums and/or when I gave up my employer's laptop (though I may have that stuff on a backup somewhere). Thanks Free ... YES the total points tiebreaker is the true Maginot Line Unless the opposition has a prolific scorer, I never pick an opposing player. If it's just our guys we could give a Certificate Of Appreciation to the bird who gets it right the most. At least it would be another chance for Thumper to win Something. You know like everyone gets a trophy these days in Little League.... As a past winner of the NCAA pick em winner I’m on board with Dex. Would be nice for Thumper to win something.

Take a trip through Pick'em archives, big boy. After your done that, check out last year's winners on the current Pick'em. You'll see the name "Thumper" prominently displayed in both.
But I couldn't find your name anywhere going all the way back to 2012. Hmmmm.
Oh well. But it's great that you joined us this year.
Merry Christmas,
PIZZA, SODA, GRINDERS!!!

Free.
This Friar recognizes and greatly appreciates the time and effort you put into doing this. It is fun for the participants and gets us [at least me] to pay more attention to other games.
Thank you !!
